Visiting the resort for the first time, for a conference. Check-in process was awful - we were told our room was ready but had to be inspected but it would be just "a few minutes." 2.5 hours later, I received notification the room was ready. Drove around for 20 minutes looking for parking and then walked in the rain under water pouring from faulty drains on the buildings. The room was in a dank, musty, lower level. The room itself smelled horribly like mildew and was in desperate need of some updating. The balcony areas outside and above our room look like they will come crashing down at any given moment. It's sad because the setting on the lake is beautiful - this place has definitely seen better days though.

Jaimeeg,

Thank you for your review, and we regret that your stay turned out to be a disappointment.
We always encourage our guests to notify us right away when they have issues with their accommodations or some other aspect of the resort. Letting us know that something was wrong after departure, doesn't give us the opportunity to fix the problem and do our best to make sure your stay is satisfactory.

The resort is full of fun things to do. Great place to take the family. Kids can move about and be safe while adults can relax and unwind.

Recently took a group of athletes here for the State Track Meet in Jefferson City. I booked 4 rooms and the hostess that checked us in was VERY polite and responsive to my requests as we had young adults staying in the rooms. She upgraded us to the main building and gave us king's with lake view!!!!!

The main building has the most updated rooms

We only ate at the Bear's Den Lodge for breakfast. Although the food was great, especially the fruit.... the price was a bit steep for Mid-Missouri. Cost was 13.00

This is just a tried and true good ole fashioned resort that has maintained for many years. If you are looking for a good, inexpensive place to take your family for a few days this is a great location.

Room Tip: Main building is most updated

The staff was friendly. Our room was small, outdated with a view of a roof, the walls are thin and we could hear the kids next door all night.our room was not the cleanest ( looked like it had not been vacuumed or swept. On the positive side while it rained it was nice to be able to bowl. The pools were nice.

Upon arrival, there were two housekeepers "cleaning" the room. One was standing outside the room talking on her phone. We unpacked all our stuff, then headed to the pool. We remained there most of the day, except when we went to eat dinner. The "Hot" tub was as cool as the pool. It was also overran by young kids and no guardians. Couldn't even enjoy it. The manager had no idea that the "children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult sign" existed. We got back to our room and our daughter removed the cushions from the hide a bed...there laid a use brown condom. We looked around the room for other items. We found what appeared to be pubic hair in the bedroom trash can. We immediately called the front desk. They sent down a member of the safety department and housekeeping. The safety person removed the condom and apologized for it being there. Housekeeping immediately began cleaning the room. He replaced the sheets and used Lysol on the cushions. We got a call from the front desk. The said they are removing the charge for the first night of the room. We paid almost $800 for the weekend. We expect a lot better. This Memorial Day vacation has been an annual occurrence for many years. Those plans may definitely be changed for next year!

JD S, Please accept our sincere apologies for the housekeeping issues in your room. We clearly failed to clean this room properly, and you can rest assured that management has personally followed up with the members of our staff to address this issue. This, obviously, is not the type of quality we hope to provide our guests.
We do value your business and regret that you might not be returning. If you would like to discuss your recent stay further, please feel free to reach out to us at 800-826-8272 and ask for the Guest Relations Manager. Thank you for your valuable comments.

We stayed one night to celebrate my son's bday, it was supposed to be raining all weekend so we came up here because they have an indoor pool, bowling alley and arcade. And also a small indoor water park, we had a lot of fun and enjoyed our stay, we will for sure be back on nicer days to enjoy the lake as well
