So, I had posted a review here from when we went to DaVinci's back around when it first opened and how disappointed I was. It was dark, dreary, we were seated away from the rest of the diners, and the portions were tiny and overpriced. I'd even commented that I wasn't sure I'd ever go back.
Well, last night I decided to give it a try and, wow, was I surprised! The atmosphere was brighter and friendlier. We were seated in the same booth that we'd occupied on our first visit. But now, the wall that divided us from everyone else has been modified so you can see the rest of the diners. The paint is brighter. The lights are brighter and everything is fresh and new.
As for dinner, well, we were definitely full at the end of our evening and everyone enjoyed it. The portions are MUCH bigger than they were when we first visited. The prices are much more reasonable for what you're getting. I still think the calamari is frozen and flash fried as it doesn't taste fresh. But, even if it is, it tastes better than what many places are passing-off a calamari. And the taste of our dinners was excellent.
I had to make sure to change my review after trying them again. I also was very pleased with the service even though they were working short-handed (told us one of the waitresses had to wash dishes because someone didn't show for work). Had they not said anything we'd have never known.
I'm glad I took a chance and went back. Now I have another place I can confidently visit and know that I'll have good food at a good value. Thank you for changing my mind, DaVinci's!
