First of all, my expectations of a Marriott (we are Platinum members) are pretty high. We stayed here for one night due to the location to the Power and Light and the Sprint Center. When we arrived, the systems were down and we had to write our credit card # on a piece of paper so they could authorize it for our room....in today’s world that just makes me nervous. We gave it to them, but the woman behind the desk knew I wasn’t too excited about that. Another woman came up and quickly assured us that all paper copies would be shredded once they were entered (great move by her - thankful for her being there). We gave them a card we don’t use very often (in case it was compromised it wouldn’t be as hard to deal with) and said we’d be back to give a different card later - they were fine. Because of the system being down they couldn’t see if there was an upgrade available (an advantage of being Platinum) and we realized that the extras we had asked for when we checked in via the mobile ap were not in our room. Oh well.... After the concert we stopped by the front desk and said we wanted to give them a new card - a different person was behind the desk (and I believe the only one working at this time) and she took our card and asked for our room # - we gave her our room # and she said that we had ‘checked out’...we knew we hadn’t, so we looked at each other and just figured we got the room # wrong. So, we had our room card and went to our room (yes, it WAS the room # we thought), and sure enough, it didn’t work. We went back downstairs and told her of the situation, and she seemed mad that this had happened...all we wanted was to be able to get in our room. Yes - a bit crazy. The customer service at the front desk was not what I have come to expect at a Marriott and I surely understand the ‘system’ issues, but you do have to realize that we, as the customer, have concerns as well (imagine our thoughts when told we had checked out - oh my, what about our things we had in the room - where would they be?) . Again, the facility is amazing, the breakfast was super and the location was fine...just a little work needed on the friendliness of the front desk, from my perspective.
