First of all, my expectations of a Marriott (we are Platinum members) are pretty high. We stayed here for one night due to the location to the Power and Light and the Sprint Center. When we arrived, the systems were down and we had to write our credit card # on a piece of paper so they could authorize it for our room....in today’s world that just makes me nervous. We gave it to them, but the woman behind the desk knew I wasn’t too excited about that. Another woman came up and quickly assured us that all paper copies would be shredded once they were entered (great move by her - thankful for her being there). We gave them a card we don’t use very often (in case it was compromised it wouldn’t be as hard to deal with) and said we’d be back to give a different card later - they were fine. Because of the system being down they couldn’t see if there was an upgrade available (an advantage of being Platinum) and we realized that the extras we had asked for when we checked in via the mobile ap were not in our room. Oh well.... After the concert we stopped by the front desk and said we wanted to give them a new card - a different person was behind the desk (and I believe the only one working at this time) and she took our card and asked for our room # - we gave her our room # and she said that we had ‘checked out’...we knew we hadn’t, so we looked at each other and just figured we got the room # wrong. So, we had our room card and went to our room (yes, it WAS the room # we thought), and sure enough, it didn’t work. We went back downstairs and told her of the situation, and she seemed mad that this had happened...all we wanted was to be able to get in our room. Yes - a bit crazy. The customer service at the front desk was not what I have come to expect at a Marriott and I surely understand the ‘system’ issues, but you do have to realize that we, as the customer, have concerns as well (imagine our thoughts when told we had checked out - oh my, what about our things we had in the room - where would they be?) . Again, the facility is amazing, the breakfast was super and the location was fine...just a little work needed on the friendliness of the front desk, from my perspective.

Papiomary,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback from your recent stay at our property. We apologize for the issues the hotel was having with the computer system upon arrival to our hotel and the inconvenience it caused. All Residence Inn's in the area where experiencing the same problems as the Marriott team looked for a solution. However we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our new hotel rooms and breakfast service during your stay with us. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you again when your travels bring you to Kansas City. Again thank you for your feedback.

Very clean and the staff was extremely helpful.
Close to a mall and several very good restaurants were within walking distance.
We used the meeting room and it was small but worked for the 15 in our party.

I stayed here for two weeks in August. Very nice, clean and comfortable room. The staff was friendly and complementary breakfast was always good, but I would not recommend using valet parking. I've witnessed them driving cars around, rather than taking them directly to the parking garage. In addition to that, I've heard them driving them aggressively as my room overlooked the garage. I mentioned this in the email I was sent asking about my stay - to which I've received no response. I was told at the front desk that the valet is contracted, and not employed by the hotel. I hope they're able to get this resolved.

Stayed here for 1 night with my 2 kids as part of a 7-day, 7-state roadtrip. This is a beautiful new-build that houses both a Courtyard by Marriott as well as a Residence Inn by Marriott. We stayed in a Residence Inn room - and it was GORGEOUS. The kitchen was amazing, the seating area was awesome and the bathroom was a brand-new style with a big walk-in shower (no tub). The lobby of the hotel was gorgeous and looked more like a Marriott or JW Marriott. As we always do, after checking-in, the first stop was the pool. Kids swam while I did some laundry in the laundromat across the hall. There was also a really nice gym (I was not able to use it but it was big, with lots of equipment). There were lots of loungers on the pool deck which was nice for me to lie on and wait while the laundry was running, and able to watch the kids. Breakfast the next day was in a beautiful, library-style room. The choice and quantity of food was exceptional. Behind the hotel is a tram line and it's free to ride it. We took it to both end-stations and explored Kansas, including the Central Train Station and the market on the other end. If I get back to Kansas City, this will be my first choice.

Having never been to K..C. we weren't sure where to stay. We chose this hotel because of it's location in the Power and Light District. It's a great location for some dining and nightlife but I think next time we'll stay in the Union Station/Crown center area for more options. Our room was very large with a great kitchen (even a stovetop) so perfect if you want to save some money on meals. The included breakfast also has a nice variety of selections. Lots of hanging, counter and drawer space, but the AC that would be awesome in the day would kick off in the middle of the night so you wake up in a puddle of sweat every single early am. Also, parking is quite expensive at $24/day.
