We checked in and got to our rooms. All was well and we went to shop for dinner and breakfast food and $117 later I returned . Then the surprise of our stay. The stove doesn’t work. Nor the BBQ.
How about a sign that says “Stove Doesn’t Work” or better yet, tell all the guests when they arrive.
So what does one do with $117 worth of bacon and eggs and dinner food that you can’t cook???
Perhaps remove the stove, frying pans, spatulas???

The Crows Nest Inn is in a very peaceful location. Our room was upstairs and was smaller than we had hoped for but it was comfortable and had lovely views down to the harbour. The bathroom was very good and had everything we needed. Downstairs there is always access to kettle, tea, coffee, cookies etc which we appreciated and there are nice seating areas for guests.
The disappointing thing for us was the lack of any conversation from the host - he is clearly a talented artist and a local person but he was just so reluctant to engage in any conversation. It would have been good to hear more about how he makes his art work and to talk to him about the area in general. Peggy on the other hand was brilliant - sjhe really told us a great deal about life in that part of newfoundland, about the problems in the winters, the community spirit and so on and it was a delight to talk to her.
Our room was quite small but warm, clean and comfortable, so no complaints there. Nice bathroom, great shower and the coffee maker was really welcome. Lovely guest lounge, with a nice view over the harbour, good selection of teas and other drinks available to make for yourself, so overall pretty good but what we really missed was any interaction with our hosts. I met Christina once in the kitchen and I thought she was another guest at first. She was perfectly pleasant but didn't really show much interest in me as a guest beyond initial pleasantries. We paid $119 per night for a room with no breakfast, other B&Bs we stayed at during our holiday have only been around $5 more with breakfast included, so I feel it is s bit over priced but with a bit more interaction Crows Nest could move from average to very good, in my opinion.
Very nice place to stay. Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Room size was a bit small for our taste. We should have requested a room on the ground floor. Christina our hostess was very nice and informative. Provided us with a map of restaurants, stores, and what to see in St. Anthony.
The Crows Nest was absolutely the peaceful refuge after a long drive up the west coast. Lott and Christina were wonderful warm hosts. This was a great place to return after each day of sightseeing. A very restful place.
Really nice place' great room, free wifi. What I liked the most was the common area that you could use if you wabted too. Great rmbright reading nook, big living room, earing tables. Coffee tea offered (make your own) we played cards with new friends and ate our breakfast with a very nice gentleman.
