Salema is a quiet family resort with some excellent restaurants. The Nau is built in a very steep hill with lots of steps so it won't suit all clients. Grounds and walkways are clean and well maintained. Staff were pleasant and always ready to help. Villas are spacious, we had a 2 bedroom villa, villa views of the sea, cleaners/maids visit daily. Our villa was a little tired in places with a broken draw in the tv unit, poorly equipped kitchen, damaged headboard in the twin bedroom, heavily stained toilets and toilet seats. The beds were comfortable, but had a thick rubber protective sheet which not only made for a very hot sweaty sleep, but they were very noisy, like sleeping in a crisp packet. At this end of the market there are more sophisticated solution to mattress protectors and the hotel should seek them out. All of the issues raised could be resolved with a good maintenance team and good house management reporting system and an ownership group willing to invest in a refurbishment program. Would I stay again? Possibly, but not for more than a few nights.
