My husband and I stayed at the High Street Victorian B&B during a recent cycling trip on the KATY trail. We had been riding for 38 miles the first day and rolled into Boonville around 6pm hot, tired, and ready for a shower. The owner met us at the door and immediately welcomed us and then apologetically told us that their hot water heater was not working, but the plumber promised to have it fixed by 7pm. We told her no problem, and went to the room to rest for a bit. At 7, the hot water worked...just as we were told (she told us the next morning the plumber almost couldn't fix it, but luckily he pulled it off...whew!). We stayed in the Rose Room, which was clean and comfortable with a private bath in a separate step-down room. There are 3 guest rooms in the inn, and the other two share a bath in the hallway. If it is available, the private bath is worth asking for the Rose Room. After we cleaned up, we went down to ask about restaurants for dinner. The owner recommended a few choices, we ended up at the Palace which was inexpensive and pretty good. The inn is in a great location and was an easy walk to downtown. When we returned to our room, the owner offered us dessert, but we declined and retired to our room as we had another long day of biking ahead of us. We were told coffee would be in the hallway at 7, and breakfast served at 8.
The next morning, we enjoyed some coffee in our room, then made our way down to the beautiful dining room where we joined another couple staying in the inn...other cyclists, so we chatted about the KATY while breakfast was served. All I can say about the breakfast meal is...WOW. Normally, I don't eat much in the morning, but I couldn't help myself with this delicious meal. She had coffee, juice, and crumb cake muffins, the most beautiful pineapple fruit bowls I'd ever seen (yummy, too), and homemade peach stuffed french toast with a huge slice of ham. It was all delightful, way too much food, but we did our best to put it away.
In a nutshell, if you like B&Bs, this is a great place to stay in Boonville. The best part was the high quality breakfast that the owner took such care in serving. It was delicious...I wish I'd had my phone to take a photo of the beautiful pineapple boats she served! If we ever find ourselves in the area again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at the High Street Victorian.
Side note for KATY riders...the inn secured our bikes in the fenced in back yard for the night, and when our bike shorts were still damp from the sink washing the night before, the owner graciously dried them and delivered them to our door before we set off on our bikes. Very nice.

Room Tip: ask for the Rose Room for a private bath...the other two rooms share a bath in the hallway

My husband and I have stayed in almost a dozen B & B's and this B &
B is one of the best. Very clean, very beautiful and the food is fantastic. Cookies, muffins, pie and the signature french toast were all amazing. The owners are very special people that strive to make your stay memorable. I highly recommend this B & B. Janet B from IL.

We stayed at the High Street Victorian Inn on our 9th wedding anniversary. Gene & Kriss were extremely hospitable. The grounds and home are stunning and the entire house is filled with class and elegance. The room was both exquisit and tranquil. In the morning we woke up to the smell of home cooking of that of a professional chef. Kriss even has a cookbook of her amazing dishes. This place was outstanding. We have recommended it to others confidently knowing they would be equally as in love with it as my husband and I are. Thank you Kriss and Gene!!!

We had a lovely time! The room was very comfortable and we loved seeing the historical features of the house. In the backyard there is a new garden and pond to enjoy with fish to feed. The breakfasts were delicious and filling! We were very well fed! Gene and Kriss helped us with directions to local sights we wanted to see and recommended their favorite places to eat. We are recommending this B&B to our family and friends.

We stayed at the High Street Victorian in August, 2010 while attending the wedding of a family member in Columbia, MO. The innkeepers were fabulous and incredibly accommodating. I especially appreciated that they asked about food allergies and whatnot, as my husband is lactose intolerant. The hostess served her yogurt sauce on the side of the gorgeous fruit salads that morning just so he didn't have to worry about it! The breakfast was delicious, the decor lovely, and our short time there very relaxing.

Room Tip: For a private bath, choose the Rose Room...it's worth the extra $10/night!
