Mother's day and all the florists were making hay, and none of the local restaurants were able to take a booking for 8 adults and 3 kids at short notice, but the family events co-ordinator kept trying and by dent of determination was able to make a booking at Café Two, about 70 km away but never mind that.
We all arrived at the same time and were seated at a long table outside with a view to the rather attractive lake. We were served by the most efficient and polite quartet of school kids anywhere. Boy! did they know their jobs, and when they weren't serving meals they were clearing plates and rearranging tables. A great start!
The kitchen was so busy that we had to queue for a short while to place our orders, but there was not an inordinate delay with the service.
The coffee was lovely and the meals were excellent. The serving sizes were largish, and as one of our group remarked it was simple food cooked well. It had that wholesome appeal to it., and it was possible to taste all the ingredients.
While the All Day Breakfast menu was a compendium of the usual brunch favourites the prices were very reasonable ranging from about $6 up to $16:90 for the Breakfast Feast, and the hot drinks from $3 to $4:40. The lunch menu, mostly burgers sandwiches and salads were from $8:90 to $17:90 for the seafood basket. If they are up to the standard of the breakfast fare, this would be a great place for lunch, but don't come late. They close at 2:30 pm.
We all enjoyed the meal and the experience. I know I did and I'm not even a mother.
Just a word of caution if you're thinking of going in the near future. I was sure I knew the way back to the highway at Oxenford, but I didn't count on the weir on the Oxenford-Mt.Tamborine Road being washed away.
