We have stayed there many times since 1999, and enjoy the quaint, quiet location and cabins. The new owners have worked hard to give it some TLC, and it shows. Cabins, furniture, and the motel have been greatly upgraded. New owners very friendly. Having a campfire on the shoreline there over the years is one of our great family memories.

Room Tip: See if Cabin #3 is available. It is the newest

Stayed in a motel suite at the Gooseberry Park Cottages and Motel for two nights in late June 2017. This was an excellent value for the summer vacation time and we were lucky to get in. The weather was somewhat gloomy but we had a wonderful time visiting with each other, driving around, visiting and walking some trails in Two Harbors and visiting and walking trails at Gooseberry Falls State Park. The falls were very impressive due to the amount of rain they had received.

The accommodations are relatively new and everything was very clean and well kept. There were two double beds and a small living room/kitchen area with a table for eating. The kitchen was adequately stocked so we could cook dinner. The bathroom was small but clean and adequate for my needs.

There was a very good breakfast and pie store, as well as liquor store, directly across from the motel. The lupines were everywhere! Great location and very nice owners, with lovely gardens!

Room Tip: The suites are in a row so one on the end might be a bit better. Little noise, but someone did walk...

When I think of "motel" it generally conjures up a certain set of images....that are not very favorable. Everything about our stay here was favorable AND pleasant!

We spent the night before in Grand Portage, and the day hiking around Split Rock and Gooseberry Falls. So we selected this property based on location and price, figuring we just needed a place to crash for the night before getting on the road early the next morning.

Check in was fast and easy, I was greeted at the door by one of the owners. She gave very clear details about our room, where to park, lakeside access, firewood, etc. We were glad we had gotten there late afternoon so we still had time to enjoy some of the amenities. We had a room in the "motel", which was more like a one room cabin that happened to share a wall with the next unit. We had a small table and chairs, microwave, mini fridge, coffee pot. Everything in the room and bathroom was well maintained and spotless!

We chose a room on the lakeside figuring that would cut down on some of the noise (it does sit right on the highway), and as a bonus we had a huge deck with table, umbrella and chairs. It looked out over the carefully tended garden (and flowers are all around the property!) and we could see the lake through the trees and cabins. We enjoyed this so much that instead of going out to dinner, my husband walked across the street to get takeout from the Rustic Inn Café so we could enjoy the weather and pleasant surroundings.

Definitely recommend!

Room Tip: It was a few dollars extra to get a motel room that faces the lake versus the road - and well worth...

The for staying with us in one of our motel. It is very satisfying to hear the appreciation of our motel. When we refurbished the motel in 2014 our goal was to make our guests feel like they were on the "shore" rather than a cookie cutter motel room. Thanks for the kind words and we hope to see you again!

We had a wonderful experience and plan to go back to enjoy the winter activities the great North Shore has to offer. The hotel was very well kept up, clean and each room had it's own deck area, small kitchen and living area - bigger than I anticipated. Plenty of room for a family bonfire and lawn games too. Closer to the water are very cute well kept cabins. We highly recommend this for a spot with your family or friends and an awesome getaway!! Thank you for welcoming our family!

Room Tip: The cabins are quiet and off of the freeway but depending on how much time you plan to spend there t...

We had a family gathering this past weekend and could not have asked for a better spot. The cabins were very clean and the perfect location with access to Duluth, but also so many state parks. Ted and Kirsten were great hosts and made us feel very comfortable. Definitely looking to book a return trip!
