This was our third visit to Palm Villa on the beautiful and tranquil island of Nevis. Situated on Spring Hill Road with a wonderful outlook across to St Kitts, the verandah and sundeck capture cooling afternoon breezes and the wonderful sunsets. Watching the sun go down with an iced drink in hand was a highlight of our holidays at Palm Villa. Inside the Great Room is airy with a vaulted ceiling, seating area with cable TV and a remodelled kitchen with breakfast counter. Double doors lead out to a screened porch which is great for in-house dining. The two bedrooms which have separate access from the Great Room each have en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and are very comfortable.
The washing machine is in the basement which is accessed from the garden. There is a washing line in the garden which gives the local monkey family a vantage point when they come to view the Palm Villa residents in the morning. This makes for memorable photographs. The gardens at Palm Villa contain a number of specimen plants which are enhanced by the neat lawns and stone outcrops. We spent many afternoons just chilling out on the sun deck and putting the world to rights hanging over the edge of the pool looking out over the gardens.
Before breakfast I enjoyed walking up the signposted footpath which leads from the top of Spring Hill Road to a ruined historic sugar mill. The ruins are very atmospheric with trees and creepers surrounding the tower. I imagined Hagrid the Hogwarts gamekeeper (of Harry Potter fame) striding out to give the students a lesson in forest lore.
We enjoyed the beach and swimming at the Chrishi Beach Club at Cades Bay which also does great lunch time salads. Our favourite was the rocket salad with goat cheese, pear and pecans. As for other dining options we were spoiled for choice. Among our favourites were Oasis in the Garden (Thai) at the Botanical Gardens, Indian Summer (Indian) at Nelson Springs, and for special evenings in fabulous surroundings Rocks at the Golden Rock hotel. Rocks also serves the best Rum Punch on Nevis and arguably the Caribbean.
In summary we highly recommend Palm Villa for a memorable and relaxing vacation. This review may sound over the top but as a measure of confidence in our assessment, we enjoyed Palm Villa and Nevis so much we decided to buy our own villa on the island!
