My first time ever there and definitely not the last.

Cuban Sandwich with black beans and rice was simply amazing!! Best sandwich I've ever had! I tend to be a big eater and this will certainly fill you up. Ham, pulled pork, chorizo.....everything on the sandwich was great. Lovely combination.

Staff were terrific.Three very lovely young women worked like crazy giving great service. Place was packed and when I asked if it was always this busy I was told "This is not busy, it is busy when there's a line out the door and around the corner".

Interior is very Caribbean and staff wear tongue-in-cheek t-shirts with writing like "eating with the enemy" and "Got Yucca?" On the coffee machine it said "Revolutionary good coffee".

Victor's is a place with great character in their ambience and in their dishes. You will taste caribbean "mood" in every dish. Breakfast has nice options that include beans, plantains; and try the great Cafe con Leche (coffee and milk). You need to get there with enough time since it is a popular place and it is a small restaurant. Also place is right at corner of Grand and 38th so get enough time to find parking in the area. It is worth the trip.

During our visit to Minneapolis in July, we were introduced by my family this local operated eatery specialized in Cuban and Latin cuisines. Victor is sitting on a corner lot, a painted wooden structure with a small indoor dining area and outdoor patio setting next to the car parking. Patio dining is surrounded by collections of succulent plants. Space is limited but its Latin atmosphere, unique dining experience, revolutionary Cuban cookings and painted decors attract quite a bit of attentions and visitors not only come for the foods but also for its walls and ceilings that are covered by doodles and messages not seen in any other restaurants. As the first time guests we were immediately drawn to the graffiti arts covered walls and ceiling. There were authentic handy arts and doodles left by the patrons. We ordered the recommended dishes and shared a dessert called xango chango. It was my first time tried out the robust flavors of Cuban cuisine. It is a busy place so go before the peak hours to avoid waiting time. Price is decent and foods are delicious!

We flew into Minneapolis from Atlanta and were really hungry. My husband had read about this restaurant and the recommendations. The weather was beautiful if still a little bit humid; we parked a few blocks away in the neighborhood and walked.

There was a wait behind two parties, one of which was 8 people. The hostess warned us and we said that was ok. There were two spots left to sit on a bench so we grabbed a couple of menus and waited. The bummer: the griddle/cooktop was broken and being repaired while we were there, so we couldn't try any pancakes, etc.

We were seated within a few minutes on the patio, which is encircled by succulents and two large, blooming Mandevillas. Our server apologized a couple of times for the griddle being out of service. I ordered the Cuban Scrambler ($9.50), my husband ordered the Cubano Sandwich with cup of soup ($13.95). We both ordered the house blend coffee ($3.25 ea).

That's when everything slowed down. We didn't know what was going on for several minutes but talked and drank coffee. After awhile our server told us that the orders had gotten backed up because of the repair. We said that was ok, she refilled our coffees.

A few minutes later, plates began to come outside. It wasn't too much longer and we had our meals. Both were excellent, as was the coffee.

The server apologized again for the delays. When we were going to leave, we looked inside. The restaurant is fairly small so don't be surprised.

We will definitely go back again as the food is worth it.

The service was prompt and friendly. We strongly recommend the patio dining for the street cafe vibe. The banana pancakes are huge and fruity. Crabcakes were a delight. Our water glasses were always full. We suggest the fresh mango mimosa.
