I dined here with a business associate as he was staying at The Grand Hotel. While the service was good, the quality of the food and coffee was poor. The place was empty at 7:00 am. There are much better breakfast venues in Downtown Minneapolis.

When we first walked in, it didn't look as nice as I expected (especially compared to the rest of the hotel, which is gorgeous.) The decor was a little run down and it just didn't look right. The staff was friendly, however, and the food was absolutely amazing. I got the salmon and it was the best I've ever had. It was presented beautifully, and just tasted incredible. I would definitely go back.

We decided to try Rare Steak & Sushi during our stay in Minneapolis. Wrong decision. we expected (based on the prices and the hotel experience so far) that we would be at a steakhouse environment like we are used to at home in Chicago. We should have known better from the "grab your own menu and seat yourself at 7pm on a Saturday night" when we walked in. Our server was the bartender and he acted like he would rather be elsewhere. The food was just ok and the "theme" of this mainly empty (we were one of 3 tables) restaurant seemed dis-jointed as though they had not put any thought into how a steakhouse and a sushi restaurant should operate as one. No matter how cold it is outside, venture from the hotel for dinner!

We had the blackened turkey burger, beef burger, Chicken pesto sand which, fried plantain chips, calamari bites, fries and a side salad. Everything was wonderful. The atmosphere was great. I plan to go again.
