We went for a short family break to Oman and decided to stay at the Shangri La since we've heard lots about it. And i have to say it was the right choice. The resort was amazing, the suite big and the food and service very good. the best was the kids club's which they had which caters for all ages, from the small one to the big kids which we loved the most as our 3 kids could have some fun time once it was dark. Room spacious and free minibar which was fantastic. We also used the nanny service so my wife and me could spend some time alone and it worked very well. overall very happy and highly recommended. we drove from Abu Dhabi which took about 5 hours and hassle free. we'll definitely be back!

My husband and I have travelled in Oman a few times but last January we were recommended to stay at the Al Husn as it is child-free and at the top of the 5-star range. We were not disappointed! We arrived at midnight but had a smooth, professional check-in to our room on the top floor. The room had a gorgeous view over the sea, breakfast was sublime and the service around the pool was faultless. We enjoyed the drinks at 6pm and the enormous range of restaurants but so loved the feeling of coming back to the serenity of the Al Husn. We only discovered the private beach on our penultimate day as we were so happy by the pool! We spent a blissful week and the staff excelled themselves when our car to the airport at 6am failed to arrive and they arranged for one of their cars to take us with absolutely no fuss. Faultless. Our stay surpassed all expectations (never said that before - I am a perfectionist) and we have decided to return next month for my 50th. Can't wait!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the top floor as I am a light sleeper and the fewer people above me the better!

Stayed here last September, everything about this hotel was spot on!

Check in quick and hassle free, breakfast in Al Husn peaceful with plenty of choice and fresh produce, al a carte menu to order at breakfast too as well as buffet.

Rooms very clean and spacious, housekeeping excellent and free mini bar with beer, soft drinks, savoury snacks and choccies too are free and replenished daily.

Pool area was clean and child free but we chose the private bay/beach, oh my the sea was so clean and warm and sand like talc, beach attendant set out towels and bought cool boxes with face spray, juice and waters and kept them replenished.

Evening canapés and drinks plentiful and great service given without being intrusive, well done excellent.

Afternoon tea equally super!

If you want a complete chill without other peoples kids then book this place, you won't be disappointed.

We'll done and thank you all at Shangri-la Al Husn for a brilliant holiday.

Room Tip: Higher floor has great views

for me it's much more a 4 stars than a 5 stars ... in our bathroom the miror was not really clean; the bed duvet cover was torn ... Breackfast good; italian restaurant also but don't go to the fine dining where the food is just not good at all (foie gras has never been a foie gras ; truffled potatoes mached looked like watter ad no taste etc...)
we didn't complained but explained the waiter our deception so that they improve they propose us a desert (we left explaini,g that we had a cake gift in room)
we recieved a complimentary enquirie after and when we explained they told us we were proposed wine (no) ...
place not bad but fare away of everything (45 minutes taxi airport)

We spent the last four nights of our trip at the Al Husn and it certainly lived up to our expectations. The room, facilities and service were all perfect, and the added extras - the afternoon tea and the evening drinks, for example - added to the experience.

The only thing to watch out for is that the restaurants on site are expensive (the exchange rate at the time didn't help) and costs can quickly add up if you've staying for more than a few days. We headed into Muscat most evenings.
