The Vasa trail system abuts Timber Ridge's own trails, some of which are lighted. TR affords a convenient and comfortable place to base your skiing expedition. As previously mentioned, part of the beauty of venturing forth on the Vasa trail system from Timber Ridge is that you are not immediately faced with a two mile climb. In fact, one can avoid most of the climbing that characterizes the Vasa Trail by utilizing the Special K segment and still have a nice sized loop. There are a couple of hills but nothing a Hoosier flatlander such as myself can't survive. The lodge is a welcome and warm place with shorter trails for weaker skiers or children. The North American Vasa race starts and ends at Timber Ridge on the second weekend in February.
