My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our tour in Sri Lanka. We were greeted by 2 staff and the manageress who were all very welcoming. We arrived late in the evening and were offered tea, cold towels and a dinner menu as we had not eaten. We were even offered an upgrade on our room as a bigger suite was available.

Our room was lovely and clean, toiletries and towels were provided although no tea/coffee facilities. This was no problem for us as we preferred to go downstairs for tea on the lawn, the surroundings are simply stunning!

After freshening up we went downstairs for dinner which was delicious! The service was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble.

Breakfast was served on the lawn and there is a nice variety of things to choose from, they will also provide a generous take away breakfast for those starting early excursions.

One thing to note about this hotel is that it is high up in the hills and you have about an hours drive from Kandy by car. We had a packed itinerary and this did add considerable travel time on the day so whilst it is 100% worth the time spent and gorgeous views as you wind your way up the hill when we visit again we will probably use this place as a rest stop or plan shorter excursions.

Also there have recently been a couple of reviews about a member of staff stealing from guests. Rest assured there was a safe in our room and the person responsible no longer works here.

Thank you to the staff for taking such good care of us we look forward to returning in the future!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We seriously didn’t want to leave as we were so happy enjoying good food, a wonderful afternoon tea included in the price! All very good value. The Manager Of the property was a very smart lady and advised us wisely where to go ...ie tea plantation etc. Loved the place !!

This is a beautiful property, well furnished, very comfortable set on a hillside at the edge of a tea plantation.
The food choices were a little limited for the evening meal, but tasty and well presented.
Staff were excellent
Slightly difficult to find in the dark and a sign at the end of the drive would have been helpful

It is a very nice hotel with few rooms where you can feel like in home.
Swiming pool, crocket court, Babmington, Tennis.... It is a very nice property, a little bit far away from Khandy.
The bad thing is that the service is awfull, do not speak english and we were stolen there by one of the eployees....

Room tip: Take care of your wallet...

My family, which included my mother who was visiting Sri Lanka after 60 years, stayed at Taylor’s Hill for two nights. The house and surrounds are beautiful. The staff who served us were also great. The food, including dinner, afternoon tea and breakfast were exceptionally good and the variety was also impressive.

A few things to note. There is no iron or ironing board in the room. There are no tea or coffee facilities in the room. However, the staff are more than happy to make this for you upon request.

Most importantly, ensure you lock up your valuables. Upon arrival we were told by the manger that our safe was not available and would be placed in the room the next day. After giving our room key to the manager the next day so she could organise for the safe to be put in the room (note we were out for over four hours on the tea tour) I noted that some cash had been stolen from the wallet containing our passports. I did not say anything at the time as I did not want ruin our family holiday, but feel compelled to do so now just so other visitors are aware that they must either lock their valuables away or keep them with them at all times.

It put a huge dampener on the whole experience for me. I was left feeling quite disturbed and uncomfortable.

ManorHouseConcepts, Owner at Taylors Hill, responded to this reviewResponded 22 January 2018

Thank you for taking the time to review Taylors Hill and for your very good comments on food and service. We were extremely sorry to read about your experience regarding losing valuables whilst staying with us.We understand not wanting to interrupt the positive flow of a family holiday, but it is a pity to learn this way, that we were not informed at the time so that we could have responded and taken important action while you were at the property

As mentioned in your review, we were in the process of installing new safety lockers in all rooms during your stay. You may also have noticed that both the Manager and Operations Manager were supervising this personally. We do take the comfort and safety of our guests very seriously, and up to the instalment of safety lockers in the rooms, we were recommending that guests keep valuables with the Manager

This a new experience at the property, and we have been equally disturbed and are already taking action to prevent any further occurrence. We deeply apologise and do hope that you will contact us directly to give us more information and assistance with our enquiries
