“A Nostalgic old farm house”
Reviewed 12 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

If your not picky and just looking for a place to hang out and hang your hat for a few days while your visiting Saugatuck, then this is the place. It should not have been cold this time of year when we stayed first week in June but it was. All the windows in the place were open when we arrived and it was chilly. We closed all the windows but the problem was there was no heat in the place, The gas meter was even locked out. There were a few space heaters in the place but as mentioned it's an old farm house and space heaters tripped the circuit breakers. Every thing else you would need was there for your needs in the kitchen, coffee, dishes, glasses, pots and pans etc.. Linens were provided but the sleeping arrangements were iffy for 5 adult guys. Three guys slept fine but the other cots were uncomfortable. One guy took the couch in the sitting room and the other toughed it out on the cot. Maybe alright for kids but not adults. Floors are a little uneven and it is what they say it is , an old farm house. The seclusion is nice. We had a nice fire in the fire pit every night and drank a lot of beer and did not have to worry about bothering anyone. One of my friends that stayed with us is from the area and I guess this place has a lot of history from back in the day. All in all we had a good experience and like I said if your not picky it will work for you. If you are one of those, then by all means find some place else.

Temps certainly did drop during your stay. From 8 days of 75-80 degrees to 65, and even cooler at night! Failed to mention the electrical on the front porch could not accommodate a heater. My apologies. Would like to hear some of the stories of The Zoo's past. I was willed the house back in 1976 40 years ago as a 16 year old. My grandfather bought it in 1945 and it was old then! He added on the front porch, the kitchen and the back porch which may explain the uneven floor you mentioned. Glad you enjoyed your stay with the exception of the nurses cots a couple of your friends had to endure. Nothing fancy, just fun.
