My college girlfriends and I LOVE the Ship N Shore. We've stayed here several times over the last 20 years. Our most recent visit was in August 2016. Weather was perfect, and we were delighted to see that our room had been updated and tastefully decorated. (Last time we were here, they had shag carpet that appeared straight out of the 70's!) This time, we had clean hard floors, and comfy beds with fluffy white comforters on them. The bathroom is old -- don't expect a granite counter top -- but it served its purpose just fine. We were pretty much only going to be in our room to sleep, so we didn't need anything fancy.
You simply cannot beat the location of the Ship N Shore. It's right on the water Saugatuck. We walked everywhere (shopping, bars, restaurants, etc.), and didn't need to worry about having a designated driver.
Free breakfast is provided, but its the typical continental breakfast you'd find at any hotel: bagels, muffins, cereal, juice, a few fruit options, coffee. If you want something more, there are options right up the block. We opted to walk down the street to Uncommon Coffee Roasters for a good cup of joe, and we also had a fabulous breakfast one block up at Ida Red's.

The staff at Ship N Shore were friendly and polite. Some ladies were staying in a room next to ours and they spent a lot of time sitting in the chairs outside their room smoking. We had to walk past them to get to/from our room. It'd be nice if the Ship N Shore created a designated smoking area (AWAY from the guest rooms) so nobody is forced to breathe in second hand smoke.
All in all, we love the Ship N Shore and we're already booked to return during the summer of 2017. Cannot wait!!More
