The beds are uncomfortable and walls are very thin, you can hear everything! It also has a musty smell to it. People that work there are very nice, just not a great place to stay.
Great place to stay if you plan on hitting the bars and you can walk to your hotel.

We just back from a short trip to Saugatuck and stayed at the Ship N Shore. Although this place has been around a long time, it's very clean and simple. We were lucky to have a waterfront room right on Lake Kalamazoo. The best part of staying there is the location. It's close to all the cool stuff in the town.

I would definitely stay here the next time we visit Saugatuck.

Lovely to wake up on the water and to be right in the center of town. Rates very reasonable - breakfast is what it is. Staff wonderful - except for a very crabby night-shift guy who is a story unto himself. I left my laptop in my bedroom and got a call within in an hour - it was home the next day. Manager extremely helpful and accommodating.

Room tip: Either a room at the very front by the water, or an upstairs room with a harbor view

Ship-N-Shore is centrally located in downtown Saugatuck, facing the waterway. Walkable to shopping, eateries, bars, attractions and next to the Chain Ferry. This is a motel in my book - exterior corridors, simple rooms with little storage space and very simple breakfast included. During our girls weekend in October we were comfortable in a clean room with good beds. The biggest downfall was the smokers - it seemed everyone around us on level 2, and below on the ground floor, came outside to smoke each time we hoped to sit outside and take in the water views. If you are a smoker you'll be very comfortable here.

Room tip: The pool view is closest to the water. Garden view is very cute with outdoor seating and walkways.

I was very impressed with our experience at Ship-N-Shore,exceptional clean comfortable rooms with an indoor lounge and a beautiful flower filled garden sitting area along the river to watch the boats.Location is everything here with a quaint park next door, along with the only chain ferry in North America right next to the hotel. The entire town of Saugatuck is all within walking distance from the Hotel. We`ll be back for sure.

Room tip: Riverfront rooms along the dock are the best
