We visited this RV park this summer and LOVED it! We had never been up this far in the thumb region of Michigan. Once we arrived we fell in love with the parks, beaches and serenity it had to offer. We rented out a rustic cabin at the Lighthouse RV park and ended up staying for 4 days and loving it! It is located OFF the main highway and through the woods. The quiet and peacefulness was amazing. NO loudness at night and a campfire in the firepit in front of our cabin was so relaxing. The managers were very accomodating and the grounds were well kept up. Great for couples who want a quiet romantic getaway from the rat race or for families. The quiet times were from 10pm until 8am. Just perfect! Do yourself a favor and check it out. The park allows tenting, RV;s and they have 5 rustic cabins that you can rent. The cabins are NOT stocked with anything so remember to bring all your own linens, etc.

What a gem of historical landmarks. Never knew this was here. Very well kept. As with most lighthouses in Michigan, there are signs providing information about this lighthouse. There is a small gift shop. Everyone here was very friendly. There was even preparations for a wedding in the area of the lighthouse. The sunny warm day made this even a more pleasant experience than I expected.

Toured the lighthouse today! The lighthouse is open a few times a year for tours. We went on Sunday of Labor day. The volunteers who work there are very knowledgeable and it is very well run. There are 80 some steps to almost the top where you can look out. The light house is still operational, and the museum was well done with all kinds of documentation and information on the many ships who sunk in Lake Huron. It was well worth the drive and very interesting. We stopped at the arts and crafts show in the park afterward, and finished the day off with a chocolate coke from the old fashion soda shop inside the general store in town!

Stayed at the campground attached to the park. Beautiful view of Lake Huron but no access for swimming (big cliffs down to the water). Stayed at a full hook up site. Most of the full hook up sites facing the water are seasonal spots, which is unfortunate. Even being behind one other camper facing the water it was still a spectacular view. We did not use the shower or bathroom facilities very much, yet when we did, they were very clean and neat. The very beautiful view of Lake Huron makes this campground very worthwhile. The little lighthouse you can tour is very neat to see. There are some geo caches nearby in the park. We drove to Port Austin for a day trip for kayaking (about a 20 minute drive).
