“Beautiful views, great location and made for outdoor living.”
Reviewed 16 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Our family of 10 adults hired these two combined properties in July 2016. The properties are linked and located at the top of the very picturesque and functional small village of Goult.

Located almost adjacent to the windmill car park which provides abundant and easy parking as village is quiet even in July and has the bin collection point.

The views from the attractive gravelled courtyard where you can sunbathe and enjoy the large plunge pool are stunning. There were ample chairs and sun beds. The upstairs balcony is large and great for evening al fresco dining.

It's an easy five minute walk to a well stocked local shop, a patisserie, three restaurants, and a small number of other shops. You would never have to leave the village if you so wished.

The houses are clean and functional and showers were perfect. The small downside is that the rooms are a bit of a mix match, some very small places given mattresses on the floor or beds just squeezed in and it's stiflingly hot in summer. There are air con units in some rooms which are invaluable. I think our party was just a bit too large for the property as we had 10 adults and as the owners suggested some rooms are only suitable for children so our mistake.

I did enjoy our stay immensely and I would be very happy to recommend the properties to my friends. I doubt you could get a prettier or more convenient location for visiting Provence.

“Breathtaking View, Quiet Village, Rustic Villa”

I stayed at La Luberon with my family of five, and our friends (a family of three) stayed in the adjacent villa La Gourbilliere. A life-long Francophile, I selected the village of Goult for our stay after much research and after reading the comments of Rick Steves in his travel guide. He explained that Goult is often over-looked by tourists and has numerous fine restaurants. He was right. I also chose Goult because the majority of its inhabitants do not speak English (so I could practice my French), and it is positioned within 10 to 20 minutes of a dozen other lovely and historic villages. Our goal after spending several hectic days in Paris was to find a beautiful, historic, and serene property in Provence, and this villa fit the bill perfectly. There really is no way to describe the tranquility we experienced there. Just imagine spending your time outside on the terrace drinking wine and listening to birds singing, cigalles chirping, and the sound of the cool breeze rustling through the trees. Every half hour and hour, a church bell rings in the distance. Imagine looking out your bedroom window and seeing lavender fields and vineyards and old stone houses with red tile roofs that were built hundreds of years ago. Imagine walking out your front door and visiting a quaint village full of friendly people and delicious food. (The pizza place across from Cafe de la Poste was amazing, as were our dinners at Aux Fines Herbes and La Terasse.) Now a few words about the inside of the villa - it is extremely rustic. The villa is literally built into the side of a mountain and the mountainside remains exposed in the kitchen. The uneven stone floor has no covering whatsoever and the furnishings and light fixtures are simple and sparse (and right out of an IKEA catalog). The master suite in La Luberon was quite nice and it had its own en suite bathroom and stand-alone bathtub. The only other toilet in La Luberon (which is in a separate room from the shower) is extremely tiny but functional. Although the villa is advertised as "air conditioned," it does not have central A/C. Rather, there is a small, portable air conditioning unit in La Luberon which we used in the master at night and brought down to cool the first floor during the days. (The other villa had no A/C at all.) My children were a little freaked out by a few bugs they found in the villa (including a large beetle, a scorpion, and some ants), but being a Floridian who was raised in a rural area, I did not consider the presence of a few insects during our weeklong stay as unexpected or unmanageable. There is no TV at the villa, but the inside of the villa had great WiFi acccess. Happily, the owners of the villa were fantastic. Although we never met them in person, we asked for their help in securing last-minute restaurant reservations for our party of eight, and they arranged absolutely wonderful dinners for us at Le Loup Blanc in Gordes, La Veranda in Menerbes, and Aux Fines Herbes and La Terrasse in Goult. So, to sum up our stay, we loved our stay at La Luberon. Normally, I look for 5-star accommodations dripping in fine French decor and luxury, but for our week in Provence, we opted instead for an authentic village experience in a breathtaking setting, and that is precisely what we got. I would not trade the view from the villa, the tranquility of Goult, or the beauty of the surrounding area for anywhere else and dream of "going medieval" again someday soon.

“Lovely House in beautiful village”
Reviewed 12 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We loved La Luberon. It is a very pretty house with the most lovely garden and views. Although the pool is small, it was situated most beautifully; amazing views across the valley to hills.

Goult is a charming village, with everything one needs - good restaurants, butcher, boulangerie etc., all a short walk from the house.

The owners were helpful and friendly.

“lovely house, amazing view, great wildlife”

2 families of 3 shared this house for a week and had a wonderful time. It was easy to find from Marseilles airport, about an hour's drive, free parking a minute's walk away by the Moulin de Jerusalem up the road. The house is superb, with 3 bedrooms, 1 being superior with en suite and fabulous views. It is well equipped & has a BBQ, swimming pool, dishwasher etc and we spent many evenings on the terrace having a BBQ, drinking wine and enjoying the view. Goult is a gem of a village with great shops, all local produce and a Thursday market, not many English speakers so good opportunity to practice your French! : ) Lots of great towns nearby, a very short drive eg Roussillon, Gordes, Bonnieaux and wine tasting at the local caves. The house is very old and has been renovated and outdoors there are quite big steps down to the pool area, which may be tricky for people with walking difficulties and small children. The pool isn't heated, but there is a pool alarm for peace of mind if holidaying with small children. Also lots of white furnishings! Recommend Café La Poste for drinks - buy a pizza from across the road and take it in, La Terrasse serves lovely food and has set menu for ~30 euros serving typical French dishes. I also loved the wildlife in Goult - black kite, hoopoe, redstarts, lizards, preying mantis, brilliant! What a super house in a truly French village. Enjoy!

“Great place in Goult which will probably get even better!”

We stayed here with our family (plus in-laws) in August 2013. It is an amazing house right at the top of the village of Goult (literally - the windmill is a few yards), one of the most unspoilt villages in the Luberon. The house has a breathtaking view. Inside it is well-equipped and the 'suite' is beautiful. The other rooms are not to the same standard and very hot in August (we had to sleep in the sitting room!). The bathroom serving these other rooms is inadequate as well. However, I suspect there will be further building work to come making it more spacious (it was a bit cramped for seven of us). Not sure I would bring toddlers here but my kids enjoyed the pool! We had a few queries during our stay and the owners answered all very promptly and could not have been more helpful.
