On the Silk road trip I visited Khiva and stayed in the Hotel Asia and it was a good hotel centrally located near the museum and they had good rooms, good food and some decent art of local origin in hotel. For Khiva this is a great hotel and I recommend this as part of the SILK road adventure

Room Tip: this was a good hotel for Khiva the food, rooms and staff were all good

I had a terrible night in this hotel. The decoration was dated in the extreme. Yellow sheets! I was jet lagged but was woken up at 5 in the morning by the arrival of a Russian film crew who stood outside my bedroom window talking. Later a tank and various vehicles arrived. Overall the hotel felt grimy and we were warned by our guide about the quality of the water in the hotel. The evening meal was good and the breakfast was ok. Good location. I walked around the walls of Khiva after breakfast which was very pleasant.

Room Tip: Do not take any room on the ground floor. Too hot and you can't open the windows at night.

Having done a lot research I understand that this hotel is the best there is in Khiva. Do not let this excite you. It is average at best. There are a number of new hotels being built there so hopefully there will be more options in the future.

Pros:
-Amazing location at one of the gates in Khiva's ancient walls
-Spotlessly clean throughout
-Air Conditioning in room
-Outdoor pool and garden for warmer months
-Many rooms have balcony
-Spacious rooms
-Wifi in the lobby was quite good
-Pleasant staff

Cons:
-Worst breakfast EVER with a shockingly poor choice, no juice, milk gone off, no cereals, instant coffee
-Breakfast items not replaced once gone so you need to get in before the Coach Tour guests
-Outrageous prices for Room Service e.g.$20 for a plate of fruit!!!
-Outrageous prices for laundry e.g. $7 for a t-shirt to be washed (I paid less than $1 in their sister hotel in Bukhara)
-Old fashioned decor
-Out dated bathrooms

This hotel has a good location, just outside the city walls of Khiva, but it is a bit outdated. Though the rooms are okay, the ambiance feels a bit oldfashioned. The services are good, the breakfast is average.

Situated right by the town walls a very convenient location to visit the sights. Large clean rooms with useful facilities. Free wifi . Restaurant buffet style with a good selection of tasty local food.
