Friday night I was woken up with the over whelming itching sensation on my leg. I quickly woke up my husband to have him look at my leg. He saw red bite marks on my leg. We pulled back the covers and sheets to see what could have been biting me. That’s then I saw the bed bug.
After discovering bed bugs in our room, we promptly notified the bridge vista staff, hoping for a swift resolution to this concerning problem. The only solution they provided was a room switch, which is a standard protocol when dealing with bed bugs. However, the hotel failed to acknowledge the extent of inconvenience and distress caused by this unfortunate incident. The front desk attendant my husband originally talked to didn’t even tell him that she was sorry. I decided to go down there myself as I was unhappy with the response. I carried with me one of my ten month old twins who was woken up by all of this. I was crying and explaining I had to then go and wake up my three other children to move them and furthermore I was concerned about taking the bugs in my clothing with me. Only then did she offer an apology. We felt pushed off as we were told the manager would be in at 7am which we went down to speak with him and were then told by another attendant that he wouldn’t be in until 11 but that he wouldn’t do anything about it as they never do. She apologized and agreed that it was wrong but that it just wouldn’t be rectified.
What added to our disappointment was the hotel's lack of proactive measures to address the situation adequately. They neglected to offer to wash our clothes, which is a crucial step in preventing the spread of bed bugs and ensuring the comfort and peace of mind for their guests. Additionally, there was no mention of compensating us for the inconvenience or offering any form of restitution for the discomfort we endured during our stay.
Furthermore, the hotel's dismissive response, stating that they "get them from traveling guests," is disheartening. While it is true that bed bugs can be introduced through guests, it is the responsibility of the hotel to maintain a clean and pest-free environment for their patrons. Ignoring previous reviews mentioning bed bugs on various websites raises concerns about the hotel's commitment to rectifying this ongoing issue.
We had to take away valuable family time to wash our belongings to ensure that we didn’t bring them with us to our next stop or home. What we couldn’t launder we had to throw away like our double stroller for our babies. Which isn’t cheap. This experience cost us money and valuable memories we should have made with our children. Not to mention me and one of my 10 month old twins received bites. As uncomfortable as I am I can only imagine how that feels to a baby who can’t explain how he’s feeling.
As a guest, I expect more from a reputable hotel. The presence of bed bugs is not only an inconvenience but also a potential health hazard. It is essential for hotels to prioritize the well-being and satisfaction of their guests by promptly addressing such concerns and taking necessary preventive measures.
my experience at this hotel was deeply disappointing. The presence of bed bugs, coupled with the lackluster response from the hotel staff, left me feeling dissatisfied and concerned.
