This is our eight year on Mackinac Island and our second visit to Market Street Inn we will go to know other place to stay but there Kristen makes you feel like one of the family. We are always welcome and feel right at home. We stayed in one of the queen rooms it was just right for us my sisters came with us and stayed across the hall their room was just as nice. The breakfast is just right for us as we do not eat that much. The weather was beautiful the leaves were turning and the island was showing its true beauty. We loved it so much that our rooms are booked for next year cannot wait to get there we always stay 4 days as the island holds so many secrets that we still have not seen them all. The location of the inn is also great it is near the only grocery store on the island and we visited it often. So watch out Kristen we will soon be there again.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Market Street Inn. The inn is as beautiful as is the island. The location of the inn was great for getting around - by the fort. We stayed in room 9 which has a king size bed and a jacuzzi tub for two. The room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. It was nice to be able get up in the morning and have our delicious breakfast delivered to our room. We can not say enough about Kristen the innkeeper. She is so sweet and helpful with anything that might come up. We had stopped at the store and bought some cheese and we didn't have anything to cut it up with so, she brought to our room a plate, knife and even a ziplock bag to put leftovers in. Kristen seemed to think of all those little touches that made our stay even more special. For example the cookies, fudge and nighttime chocolates. Loved them all. Thanks Kristen for a wonderful time. We hope to get back to the island and we will be seeing you.

Room Tip: Talk to Kristen about the rooms, she is very helpful with this. The inn is very quiet being off Mai...

My family has visited Mackinac Island several times and have stayed in different inns, B&Bs and hotels. The Market Street Inn is by far our new favorite.
The short: Price, quality, location and a caring and attentive staff make this inn second to none.
The long:
The inn is located near the fort and downtown. Market Street is central to all areas of interest on the island, but has less hustle and bustle and nighttime noise than Main Street.
The rooms are well appointed, each with its own design and charm. Every room has a full ensuite bathroom. The beds are comfortable. Each guest can regulate the temperature in the guest room to their own preference.
The continental breakfast is plentiful. Guests can tailor their breakfast order to their liking and also eat breakfast in the location of their choosing: In the room, in the front parlor, or in the lovely patio in the back of the inn.
The pricing is on par with other inns on the island. The value for the money is unparalleled.
This inn has a beautiful patio located behind it. There are plenty of tables and chairs and umbrellas. There is also a gas grill that is available for guest use. This can be a very nice alternative to eating every meal in a restaurant. It is a lovely place to relax and spend time as a couple or a family.
Far outweighing the other good points about this bed & breakfast is the care and attention of the innkeeper and her staff. Kristen, Hannah and Melissa were not only wonderful hosts in general, but were quick to fulfill special requests. Kristen is so well placed in her post as innkeeper. She made our family vacation unforgettable, so much so that we fear this experience has ruined us for other lodging on the island. We will definitely return to the Market Street Inn.
Whether this is your first trip to Mackinac Island or if you are a seasoned veteran like our family, do yourself a favor and book your stay at the Market Street Inn.
Sidenote:
While re-reading this message before posting, I realize that it sounds awfully gooey and almost promotional. Sorry, but I seriously can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay.

The Market Street Inn is located at the far end of the strip, just a short block off of the main street (Front Street). You're never far from a fudge shop on Mackinac, but the B&B is just within a few hundred feet of one of the few small markets. It's also located adjacent to the historic fort. Every day starts off with reveille being played from the fort at 9:30 a.m. and ends with taps at 10pm. The B&B escapes the noise of Front Street, but it's still on the carriage ride route, so one regularly hears the pleasant clip-clop sound of the passing horse-drawn tours.

At breakfast, I'd urge you to select a cinnamon roll among other things. Delicious. You can choose to be served in the parlor, the back patio garden, or in your room. During the day there's always brew-your-own coffee and teas available as well as a platter of fudge, cookies, and mints.

I really can't think of anything that could or should be improved upon, and I suppose that pretty much all the B&S's in this price range are the same; however, what REALLY distinguishes Market Street Inn is Kristen. Organized, warm, genuine, personable...she makes you feel at home and comfortable within a few minutes of arrival. Unintrusive, yet always available, she's just a great person. If we ever visit Mackinac again, we'd stay at Market Street just because of her.

My husband and I are generally not B&B users. We like it when we can remain a little unnoticed or anonymous, and don't enjoy being fussed over. As far as that goes - we absolutely adored Market Street Inn! When we arrived, we found the front desk empty, but a delivery of fresh fudge was occurring at the same time and the delivery man mentioned that we'd probably want to use the house phone in the parlor to call Kristin. Yes, that worked, and I have to say that we loved being able to come and go without being watched, or as I said, fussed over. There was a plate of cookies and one of fudge set out on a table just inside the door, and we loved being able to grab a nibble without being watched.

The location is great. Our room (#2, first floor) faced Fort Mackinac, and we enjoyed the view. We had the option of opening our windows or using the air conditioner. There was also a ceiling fan, and we did use this at night. The breakfast was assembled to order, and although there were no hot food offerings, it was a lovely and satisfying tray. I had wondered where breakfast would be placed, since we chose to have it served in the roow, which was quite small with limited table space. Not to fear, 2 small tray tables were set up for us and it worked out perfectly.

We happened to stay on a Tuesday night in August, and in the morning we hiked up the (very steep!) hill for a free tour of the Governor's Summer Residence. We hiked up that same hill the night before to slip out in the dark to find a night cache (we're avid Geocachers). When we returned from the night cache and got settled on the porch, we heard Taps being played over a loudspeaker from the Fort. It was so peaceful!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this B&B to even the pickiest traveler - unless you really do need to be fussed over every minute, that is. I would stay in the same room again, or would take another room - they all looked great.
