The Ottawa National Forest provides a myriad of year-round recreation opportunities for every age. It offers places to go camping, fishing, boating/canoeing/kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, Off-Road Vehicle mudding, mountain biking, sight seeing, birding, hunting, snowmobiling, cross-country and downhill skiing. There are many spectacular waterfalls along the Black River, the Sylvania Wilderness and the North Country National Scenic Trail.

Ottawa National Forest is a really nice place. It's very clean and kept up. There's a lot of cool things to see here like Black River Harbor.

The forest is awesome! All the trails that we traveled have been very well maintained. The extensive decking to get great views of waterfalls is helpful and they are well thought out. The ones that we used on the Black River Falls were in great condition. The forest was clean, with a lack of litter. It was pleasurable hiking. Many, many thanks! Anyone who is in the Western UP area, perhaps to go to the Porcupine Mts, should consider the Black River Falls. You can easily visit the 5 Falls near Ironwood in a few hours. I thought I had a fave, but they are all different - Sandstone allows you direct access, which is cool - the rest are mostly views, but beautiful! Go there!!

The "Falls" are so very amazing at Ottawa National Forest, I would highly recommend them to people who love to walk to see the Beauty that surrounds the U.P. Those memories of Water rushing so freely are memories I will forever cherish.

It's nice to get away and just relax and enjoy nature. Great place for a single, couple, or family looking to get back to nature.
