The newly remodeled dining area gives this place a light- hearted feel. The flavors are delicate: noticeable was the cabbage slices inside of the wonton soup. There is a large increase in the number of people who were dining here, on a week night.

Our favorite Chinese food place recently closed and we have been looking for another one. WOW. This place is fabulous. We have found our new home.

Location: small strip mall location on south west corner of Middlebelt Road and Nine Mile Road. Free parking. Steep incline into small parking lot. Very few steps from parking lot to being seated; fully handicap accessible. We were a group of 5 and they had no trouble seating us at a round table for 6. There is at least one large round table for 8, with lazy susan in the middle for traditional Asian dinner.

Menu: We were provided with a paper menu, which was quite varied. Since it was a Saturday lunch meal, we looked for, and found, a broad list of luncheon specials (on the back). Prices for lunch specials ran from $6.95 to about $7.95. (Include soup, entrée, egg roll or spring roll, and fried rice.)

Service: We were seated promptly and our server was very polite. Some difficulty communicating because our friendly server's English skills were limited. She asked about how the bill was to be split and handled it well.

Food: The soups were excellent. The hot and sour soup was strong on black pepper which I loved. The wonton soup had meat in the wontons and a nice flavor. Served with a large basket of deep-friend crisps. I asked for, and got the kung pow chicken lunch special made very spicy and it was amazing. Very rich, dark flavor. Lots of onion, but very few other veggies. It was among the very best I have had anywhere. Others at our table had the Mongolian Beef (claimed it was the second best he had ever tasted); the Sesame Chicken (good; breading was quite heavy and sauce was rich; no veggies); and the General Tso Chicken (again, heavily breaded, rich reddish sauce). No one was disappointed. Egg rolls had pork in them; spring rolls had shrimp. Typical fortune cookies. YUM YUM.

Overall: we were the only non-Asian customers on a Saturday at noon -- there were probably 20 other customers there at the time -- so that tells you a lot. Portions were above average and food was stellar. We will return! I would recommend that you work hard to communicate clearly your order since several of the servers seem to be a bit limited in their English. One of our party wanted to order a tofu dish, but wanted meat added. The server kept saying "no meat." She had trouble understanding that our friend wanted tofu AND meat. But when my friend ordered "tofu with pork added," the issue was resolved and she got exactly what she wanted (and loved!).

The ambiance is not quite as fancy as Hong Hua, but the food is every bit as good and much more reasonably-priced!

Went there for the luncheon specials that are very reasonable. Only down side was the soup; both egg drop and won ton unfortunately tasted watered down and bland. The spring rolls ( no egg rolls on the menu) were small but tasty and we enjoyed the entrees but we have had better elsewhere. I had the chicken with spring peas, husband had sesame chicken. The luncheon special consists of a modest amount of entree, fried rice, spring roll and soup for under $7 ( served 7 days a week until 4pm). The portion was just enough for lunch. If you want something more substantial, the dinners other patrons were getting looked generous, served with soup and white rice, starting around $11. The restaurant itself is very clean and nicely decorated. There is a bar with a T.V. and a pleasant sitting area. The banquet room, a private room next to the bar, was set up for an evening wedding later today. I peaked in, it was beautiful.

Everything about the place was average, the soups, egg rolls, dinners and ambiance. The food was OK but not good enough that we would want to come back. We struggled to communicate with a waiter who was nice but had limited English language skills.
We got the luncheon combination dinners which included egg roll, soup and entree. Hot tea was also included. All that for $8 so we felt it was a good deal.

We were looking for authentic Chinese food for take out. The Hunan Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice were excellent, but the Beef Lo Mein was just okay. I will definitely return to try more of the menu. Our wait time was short, and the employees were friendly.
