The hotel looked older on the outside but on the inside they remodeled the rooms very well. The staff was very helpful and aseptically shital the manger. There had a beautiful court yard and the had nice bamboo floors.More

My wife and I are on a 10-day road trip with 2 dogs. When travelling by ourselves, we enjoy an upscale hotel. Road trips with 2 dogs not so much.
Basic and clean is perfect to shower, bed and go at first light. This place was disgusting. Filth in every corner. By the time we pulled in it was 11pm and were exhausted from a long day. We slept with our clothes on. Do yourself a favour and keep on driviing.

My experience at the Red Roof Battle Creek.
First of all, in our room smelled like marijuana when we turned on the air conditioning. Also, we lost our key so we decided to go to the front desk and ask for a new one. The staff asked for our room number and gave us a key to the room without any proof that we were the ones staying in that room, which means that just about anyone could have gotten a key to our room.
Not such a satisfying experience.

Stayed the night on the way to Detroit. Room was newly renovated as it smelled of fresh paint. Mini fridge and stove (old) in the suite room. Sink was dripping non stop. Water was hot in the shower. Bed was comfortable. No issues with heat or air. Went to breakfast before 7am. Lots of food, if it's free and a 2 star hotel, you have to take it for what it is. Front desk agent sat with legs up and texting when we checked out. Served its purpose.

I travel constantly and stay in various chains, probably averaging 3 or 4 nights a month. Their site info says that they have a heated pool open thru Oct. We selected them because of that as we had 4 rooms, of mostly teenagers expecting it to be open. During check-in we found out it had been closed. How ever the lady checking us in repeatedly denied that their site info stated that. In the walkway going to the rooms was a pipe sticking out of the wall about 6 or eight inches, about a foot above the walkway. Upon entering the room there was a very strong odor of what I think is roach powder. The location overall was more than I expected from Red Roof Inns, however learning that it was formerly a Howard Johnsons explained that. During breakfast several items ran out and no-one was there to replenish them. Later as we were leaving I went to the front desk to ask for a copy of the bills for the 4 rooms and no one was there (no bell either). Finally I got the attention of some one in the supply room and in a not to pleasant mood got me the copies I needed. The thing that happened were not all that bad, but I would probably choose to stay in a different motel if I return to the area.

To begin with the stay at this hotel was pleasant. The staff at this property were extremely helpful and polite! There were many amentities that don't come standard with most hotels with this rate we payed. There was a swimming pool, free hot breakfast and huge courtyard to walk our puppy. They are also pet friendly which was a huge bonus. I would love to come back to stay here again!
