Green Gates is not the first house we've stayed in along the Cape, but it's certainly one the BEST! Fully spacious for our 10 adult gathering, we filled 5 bedrooms and had a room room to spare! Our crew loved to cook together and nothing was missing in the kitchen that we needed, from cooking pans and utensils to plenty of plates/dishes/silverware for a full day of eating, right down to the crackers and picks for eating lobster!
The historic house is quaint and interesting but lacked nothing, including internet. There is a library to choose from (in case you didn't choose a book from one of the literary named bedrooms), games for folks of all ages, beach chairs/towels/sunscreen, a patio with a gas grill to cook out, along with a patio table and an extra long picnic table to boot.
It's well within reach of many amenities, from strolls along the bay, to inner ponds, to galleries, ice cream shops, stores and other historic museums and houses. Just a short drive to the eco tours, boating, and whale watching. About an hour drive to P-town.
The caretakers are attentive and interesting folk as well - thoroughly enjoyable! Great for families even with small children, and adults alike. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
We had a large group of 10 adults and we had PLENTY of room to spread out. I don't think we even used all the rooms in the house! We cooked in every night in a kitchen that seemed to lack for nothing -- more than enough dishes, cutlery, glasses, knives, cutting boards, etc so we did not have to panic about getting the dishwasher loaded and unloaded before every meal. We loved being able to cook on a gas stove. The gas grill with an extra propane tank outside was also really thoughtful to have available. The new washer and dryer was also a plus with enough beach towels for everyone. The bathrooms were in great condition and super roomy so it made sharing easy. The house has many shade trees on the lot but is also readily accessible to all sorts of shops and amenities. We did the EcoTour and Whale Watching trips while we were there since the harbor was just a short drive down the road. This house was perfect for those of us that wanted to read quietly, play cards until the wee hours or explore the area. The air conditioning in the bedrooms was very quiet and very efficient. The Sunday to Sunday booking was a blessing as Saturday traffic getting onto Cape Cod looked pretty busy.

Our group had a wonderful stay at Green Gates during our week on the Cape. The house has so much charm, and we loved the author themes. There was plenty of room for everyone in our group to spread out and relax. Games, books, DVD's etc. kept the kids busy when they weren't Pokemon GO'ing (ugh).
The location was awesome. Nestled in a quaint neighborhood with beautiful gardens, we felt a world away from the commercial strips of lower Yarmouth and Hyannis just five miles down the street. We enjoyed the walk/jog to see Sandy Neck light shine over the bay, and if you took the short drive to Grays Point, you'd experience the best sunset on the Cape - truly amazing.
Lavinia and Dan were uber responsive to any needs and questions we had. Each bedroom had its own air conditioning, which came in handy on some of the hot, humid nights we had during our stay.
Paddle boarding, kayaking, surfing, P-Town site seeing, biking, quiet morning walks and just doing nothing on the beach...we did it all. Thanks Lavinia and Dan for a great week!
