“Great Cape Cod family vacation”
Reviewed 3 May 2012

Stayed for 5 nights last August in a pool view room with my wife and 5 year old son and had a great time! We stayed on the 2nd floor and had a great view of the ocean from the balcony. Fun pool, camp and daily activities for my son at both hotels. We especially enjoyed he dive in movie at Blue Water. Great location with lots to do on 28, but could avoid traffic with multiple ways to get out onto 28. We had such a good time we are heading back this summer with my parents, brothers family and my 2 sisters families. Highly recommend for a great Cape Cod vacation!!

We have been to the Riviera multiple times since 2009 with our 2 young kids. The prices are high for the season and although it is painful to pay the cost when we only live 90 minutes away, we can't argue about the LOCATION.
THE GOOD:The hotel is not a resort by no means and it's right in line with the Cape Cod theme. Nothing fancy in terms of rooms and there is certainly no concierge or room service but the outdoor pool and beach are FABULOUS...especially for young kids since the pool is zero entry. The beach is very clean and the hotel supplies beach chairs, towels and umbrellas during the summer season. The ocean view rooms on the first floor are the best IMO since you can sit on the deck and walk right out where the second floor you have to walk outside the front door and down the back stairs. The hotel location is about 5 minutes away from shops and restaurants.
THE BAD: the restaurant is awful...if you can call it a "restaurant". It is VERY small. The parking is awful. Don't plan on bringing 2 cars with you during peak season. The indoor pool area is very basic and there is not a lot of walking room around the pool. The bathrooms in the indoor pool are ridiculously small and since many people utilize them when they are outside at the pool, there is usually a line and are always filthy due to overuse.
If you plan on using the outdoor pool , plan on standing at the gate before it is open so you can get a chair...Yes, I am serious.

Is it worth the $325+ a night PLUS resort fees? If the weather is good, yes. If the weather is not then NO. If you cannot use the outdoor pool and beach, it is simply a waste of money since the indoor pool is very basic and the hotel offers no other frills.

One last thing....NOT FOR COUPLES. families only. Very loud Nd expect. TON of young kids.

Thank you for your recent review. The resort has an extremely short season and does happen to have one of the nicest pools and private white beach in New England. We find year after year that our in season rates are very much in line with our competition and we have not taken a major price increase in a few years. The pool is very popular and there are some days that there is a wait at 900am to get in. We do our very best to expedite the process and understand the guests who want to wait in line to secure the best possible spot. All in all we have an extremely loyal following and we continue to keep the place pristine and service all our guests the best we can. We do appreciate constructive feedback as it only helps the team evaluate our performance and the resort itself. Thank you for your continued support and we do hope to see you back this summer.

We are a family of four (two small children) and were staying in Cape Cod for a week and decided to add a night on at The Red Jacket Rivierra. I chose this resort because of the ad they have which shows some really spectacular photos of a pool with a fun waterslide and great stufff for the kids and also because it is right on the beach. Two disappointments were that while we got a first floor room with a nice porch, the room was dated (big time) and very unappealing. Then the second disappointment was that the ad online with the waterslide was showing photos from one of their other resorts in NH. Kids were quite disappointed. The outdoor pool was okay, but still a disappointment from what we were expecting (which was an anticipated highlight of our vacation). The indoor pool was very cloudy and the whole inside pool area (stone deck, bathrooms and hot tub) had an overall unclean feel and appearance.
I did notice as we took an evening stroll that there were other rooms I could see into rather easily while walking by that looked much nicer/updated and more comfortable/inviting than ours. Cannot figure why I got the room I did instead of one of those, short straw I guess. The big plus I found about this resort was the private beach. It was very nice and clean and they have beach chairs, umbrellas with stands and towels for guest's use conveniently available right at the beach. We spent most of our time there and it was very enjoyable. I highly recomend being specific about the room you would like if you were to stay here. Having one of the better rooms would have probably made quite a difference for us.

Thank you for recent review and for staying with us in October. I apologize our resort was not as you would have liked. The pools we offer both indoor and outdoor are normally highlights of all our guests visits. We strive to keep our pools in tip top shape with regards to cleanliness and clarity. The resort is not new by any means and we are always upgrading the facility. I hope you return so we can demonstrate our commitment to guest service and attempting to exceed your expectations each and every time you visit.

this was a fairly typical beachside motel. Its a little on the older side. It reminded me of place we went as kids in the 60s. It is a long "U" shaped building with up/down two beds and a TV type rooms opening to the outside.

The great thing about this place is that it is RIGHT ON A BEACH! A NICE BEACH! It has an outside bar and all. I would expect in the summer months it would be really tough to get close to this place.

It has its own breakfast restaurant which was OK. It has a nice outdoor pool with stuff for kids and a decent indoor pool [very simple] with a hot tub [big and nice].

The lower rooms have little patios outside the double doors with seating and little tables. That's a nice touch and even in October it was worth sitting out there and reading.

Our room was clean and tidy. They had the air-conditioning cranked down to 56 degrees so when we first walked in it was icy cold. I'm not sure why.

Everything worked. The "sister" Red Jacket hotels are right around this one and they offer other amenities (bar, spa,...etc). It's a pretty good setup. I'd be worried in the summer as the roads in this area must be packed. It might be hard to get out to have a meal (no in room capabilities other than a mini fridge).

The beach was absolutely beautiful; really, really nice!

Room Tip: bottom floor (patios). They have a couple at the head of the "U" that face right out onto...

My wife and I stayed here the first weekend of October. The grounds were very nice and well maintained. The outdoor pool area is quite unique. The resort sits on the beach, so it was easy to go down to the water. The desk staff were friendly.

On the flip side we paid $170.00 a night and it did not include any type of breakfast. A basic breakfast for two cost an additional $30+ each day. Now the room was a different story. They did seem somewhat clean, but it was heavily in need of repair and updates. The tiles in the bathroom were falling apart. One even cut my wife's leg as she got into the shower. The toilet took 2 - 4 attempts to flush. The bedding was old. The carpet had stains and even an iron burn. Th ceiling had cracks and apparent water marks. There was an odor of mold also present. The room was just in absolutely poor shape. Given what we paid a night in the off season, the value definitely did not match the price.
