Description: John Andrews Farmhouse offers a unique farm-to-table dining experience in the Berkshires. Built in the late 1700s, the restaurant’s rustic, country charm is enhanced by a cozy fireplace in winter months and, in summer, al fresco dining is available on the terrace. The restaurant features New American cuisine with Italian influences, rooted in the region's agricultural history. Dan Smith has been the chef-owner since 1990, creating seasonal menus long before farm-to-table was a trend. Known as the “architect of modern Berkshire cooking,” as coined by Travel & Leisure, Dan offers a unique taste-of-place dining experience. Named one of the World’s 25 Best Farmstead Experiences in The Daily Meal, John Andrews Farmhouse is a Lonely Planet Top Choice and has been awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, Yankee Magazine Editor’s Choice and the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. Prix Fixe specials include Mom’s Meatloaf Monday (winter only) and Giovedi on Thursday nights (year round). John Andrews offers an extensive wine list, full cocktail bar and a lighter-fare bar menu. Open Thursday to Tuesday and closed Wednesdays, all major credit cards are accepted.

The evening started out on a good note when our anniversary was acknowledged. Then the staff was willing to swap out a side dish for me for something I prefer. Both husband and I had the mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto salad. He had the ricotta gnocchi which he said was light and tasty. I had roasted chicken (minus the fennel which I dislike) surrounded by broccoli and roasted garlic. All of it was very good and the chicken was juicy and tender. Husband enjoyed the ricotta cheesecake and my chocolate torte with ice cream was also yummy. The waitstaff could not have been more attentive and kind. All of this made for a memorable and delightful anniversary celebration.

A pleasant drive in the country lead to J. A. We were seated in the back dining room with nice window view. My friend had one of the best sazaracs outside of NOLA. Highlights were crisp and delicious sweetbreads and perfect foi gras. There followed perfectly prepared soft shell crab entre in a unique sauce. The fragola with veggies was tasty. For dessert we tried home made ice cream which included a wonderful ginger and a terrific chocolate. Service was spot on. If you want a classy dinner out in the woods this is your spot.

This was our 4th or 5th visit to your restaurant. Thank you again for a great dining experience. We took our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. We are all products of the food service industry and very picky about the entire experience. Nicely done. Service was great and this9 food, amazing. I tasted the Lamb, Duck, gnocchi and Skate Wing. Roasted cauliflower, almond cake and pot de creme. The chef is a magician. Our meals were elegant and carefully planned and presented. BRAVO and thank you.

Our dinner was thoroughly enjoyable -- the service was smooth, the food was fresh and flavorful, and the ambience/decor a perfect balance of country and home! Highly recommend.

We went with friends for dinner on a Saturday night and found the place terribly loud- there are only woos surfaces and no soft goods to absorb sound...
Our server while nice missed some of our orders and the special entree was therefore not available for one of our party as a result.
The special chilled soup of potato leek garlic was dull and my chicken entree was also pretty pedestrian.
If you want a better option go down the road to the old mill- they may not take reservations but the food is worth the wait.
