“Awesome place, very relaxing”
Reviewed 27 July 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We had 3 Families staying here and had a lot of fun. Was just perfect for us.

You should know that the house itself is somewhat rustic. The inside of the house is more like a cabin with exposed wood and it is quite clearly exclusively a summer home and purpose built.

The 4 rooms are large enough with plenty of storage places for clothes and such.

Bathroom was simple and basic but functional. There's actually two but the downstairs is only a half bath and the walls don't go all the way up to the ceiling, so if you value your privacy and want to be considerate you'll probably use the upstairs for any serious business if you catch my drift...

The Yard and porch were absolutely perfect for my 2 year old and 10 month old. We also had a few older kids that really enjoyed playing in the yard and walking around the neighborhood.

Speaking of the neighborhood, it couldn't be more relaxing and friendly. Everyone was there for the same reason. Not all renters, but all there to enjoy the beach and relax. Plenty of great lookouts from on top of the bluff.

The beach access was fantastic for kids. Very mild waves, almost no real waves at all. Amazing peaceful water during low tide. It's not ideal when the tide is half way up because the shore line is very rocky there, but if it goes out further it becomes sandy and enjoyable.

Low tide was perfect for my 2 year old who loved playing in the water and looking at shells and rocks. Lots of hermit crabs and other interesting things crawling about. Bring a little net and see what you can find!

The major drawback of the beach is that the access of the water is via something like 140 stairs. Not really that big of a deal because the stairs have little bench areas you can stop and rest at along the way if need be. But it does present a bit of a problem when you have two kids and loads of stuff to carry up and down. Still very much worth the effort in my opinion.

Thanks for your review!
This cottage, built in 1898, was part of a development (you will notice other houses in the neighborhood with same architecture) that was typical of the time, with unfinished interior and welcoming porches. It is a bit of architectural history. Families came by horse and buggy to escape the summer city heat and the long trip meant they did not easily go back and forth. So, they generally stayed the whole summer.
The cottage is up on a bluff which allows for stupendous views but it does mean stairs to get to the beach below. Not 140 steps, though! I count them each year and currently there are 112. Still, an undertaking! The number can change somewhat, depending on storms that come in over the winter.
While there is a full bath upstairs and a half downstairs, the private, outdoor shower makes it two full baths.. And the outdoor hot water shower is a favorite among renters and family alike. Try it and you will see!
