Went with wife and friend today. My grits and eggs quite good; egg white omelet very good, breakfast burrito came in 3rd place. Sourdough toast as good as it gets. Great coffee. Great service. Usually really busy and understandably so!

Nice local restaurant that has survived generationally. My favorite time to go is for breakfast or brunch. Great locally made multigrain breads and noteable huevos rancheros.

Love the food at Jake's. There are many unique and delicious choices. When I want something simple I love the walnut pancakes. The staff is attentive and friendly!!!!

Liked the un-polished ambience, seemed more genuine. Food was fresh and good, but not out of the ordinary.

My wife and I stayed in Northampton and heard that Jake's has the best breakfast in town. Judging by the line to get in, we assumed that the reputation was well-deserved. We skipped the free hotel breakfast in order to eat here.

We each got pancakes and bacon, we shared a plate of homefries, and we each got a coffee. The total bill was $41, without tip. This was a very high price to pay for a mediocre breakfast.

The pancakes were proudly described on the menu as being "golden brown delicious." They were anything but that. We each got one pancake that was undercooked (wet batter) and two that were correctly cooked. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she graciously offered to have them remade. However, based upon the the taste of the cooked ones, we declined. These were among the worst pancakes we have had. They were lacking in any flavor (no different than pasty Bisquick) and they were heavy. There was nothing golden, brown, or delicious about them. We skip butter or syrup on well-made pancakes, we drowned these in butter and syrup just to add some flavor.

The bacon was very good, but not great. The home fries were excellent, some of the best we ever had. They came out crispy and flavorful.

Although the place was packed, the waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was delivered quickly and hot. Our coffee cups were never empty.
