Forest trails through beautiful scenary. We visited in the fall when the trees were spectacular. I think Spring would be special as well.

we thought the entrance fee for a late afternoon weekday could have been waived or reduced. the trails were nicely marked, and the map was adequate. The rest-rooms had a strange odor that was more like bad subways, than a nature preserve. The walk through the woods was pleasant, but we didn't notice many birds.

This lovely Audubon property is north of Lenox. It costs only $4 to use ($3 for seniors) and offers many lovely trails, vistas, and much information about the beavers who live there and have built dams and lodges throughout the sanctuary. They were killed off over the years, but reintroduced to the area in 1932. You could easily spend at least a half day walking and hiking around this great spot.

We found this property to be a very pleasant surprise. The trails were varied and could accommodate all levels of walkers and were extremely well marked. We took the "Ledges" trail and finished the loop by way of "Overbrook," which was a 3-mile steady hike that included some incredible vistas. The first part of the hike, on the Ledges trail, was fairly demanding and steep, which we would recommend that you tackle while you are still fresh. The descent via Overbrook was much less demanding, and given the recent rains was probably also safer if you are hiking without a walking stick. We saw a variety of birds and lots of wildlife sign (including bear paw prints) if not the animals themselves.

My wife and I spent a couple of days in Lenox. Pleasant Valley was definitely a highlight. Well marked trails, interesting scenery, lots of wildlife. A great way to spend an hour or two. We even stopped and enjoyed some reading in their Adirondack chairs....
