First impressions were that it was amazing as the description - real wow factor. Equipped with everything you could want. The socialising space was amazing, with room for all 19 of us to sit around the table the night we had the full complement. Plenty of chilling and nibbling space around the kitchen (and the couch) for the adults, and plenty of space for the kids to run around (we had four 2-5 year olds).
Only slight down-side was that we were told that the heating system was a bit tricky, and we struggled to keep everyone comfortable when we had people on three floors. It was much easier the night there were only 12 of us on two floors.
The Playhouse provides all that is necessary to have a fabulous time with family or a large group. I have looked for a place to hold our annual family Christmas gathering for quite some time and came across the listing for The Playhouse. Our annual holiday trip with our two grown children and their families to visit my husband's hometown and family in the Berkshires involved getting five hotel rooms and not enough room to enjoy everyone's company. The Playhouse fills this need in a wonderful way. The open areas are spacious and easily accommodated our large gathering on Saturday afternoon with brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews from 14 weeks to 70 years. On the main floor, the great room with it's open beams, beautiful lighting, wonderful views and great sound system was perfect setting for the adults at our gathering. Downstairs, the playroom area was great for the younger children to play ping pong and board games. Never once did we hear "I'm bored". The two kitchens are well equipped to handle cooking and serving food for our large group. The bedrooms are set up for convenience, comfort and a quiet retreat from activity. The mattresses and bedding are the best! Bathrooms plentiful and the heated floors much appreciated with 11 degree weather outside. The night we arrived we had eight inches of snow and the property manager Sean was there to dig us out first thing in the morning. He was informative upon our arrival and very responsive if we called him with a question. The property owner Daniel was also very accommodating and responsive. Much thought went into the planning and design of The Playhouse for beauty, comfort and function. Finally, my best recommendation is that we have already booked The Playhouse again for even longer stay next year.
The Playhouse is a magical place to connect with friends and family. There are a half dozen living spaces that offer anything from quiet reading areas with a view, to 40 person seating, or a cozy spot in front of a fireplace. The space and furniture are all brand new, the technology is all best of the best. I spent a long weekend here with college friends, and we enjoyed the property - the highlight was walking down to the lakefront to enjoy a swim and the gorgeous view. I highly recommend jazz at Edith Wharton's The Mount next door.
I didn't want to leave. The view from the picture window is breathtaking. The home has more space than even our large group could fill. If you are a yogi, you can enjoy your own private studio on the ground floor. My family enjoyed walking the property and visiting all the best Berkshire spots, which are all within ten minutes drive.
