My boyfriend and I stayed the weekend for our 6 year anniversary. I had never stayed at a B&B before and was nervous about the experience in comparison to a hotel.

Our room was clean and comfortable and the Clapp family was warm, inviting and full of information about local spots and eateries to fill our days. I had such a great time chatting with Nancy and learning about the homes family history.

We were just feet from downtown, bank street beach and a short drive from Chatham. A weekend on Bank Street Beach was all we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of home. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

We drove out to walk the trails along the national seashore park and enjoyed delicious food at some of the restaurants along the Main Street. Nancy has menus galore and advice for all tastes.

Thank you all for such a lovely time- God bless!

My boyfriend and I visited Cape Cod and stayed at Clapp's Guest House in room 7 in August 2014. We had a wonderful stay. Room 7 is large and has an ensuite bathroom. While perhaps a little outdated, we found the room to be cozy and comfortable. The property has a beautiful garden area and lots of outdoor seating.

The beach and town is a short walk away. The inn has parking so we found it easy to explore the surrounding area by car, and a ferry to Nantucket leaves from Harwich Port, which made for a great day trip.

The Clapps were lovely hosts-- available to answer questions and give suggestions, but not overbearing.

This inn is a great value and my boyfriend and I hope to return next summer!

Clapp's Guest House was recommended to us by a friend. What a wonderful place! We stayed in Room #8, very clean and quiet with a private entrance. The yard is privatel and well maintained with lots of lounge chairs, tables, a hammock and beautiful flowers and plants. We enjoyed relaxing in the evening following our busy days and even did some star gazing of the beautiful night sky. Nancy and Carl were friendly and helpful and seemed genuinely happy to share their little piece of heaven with us. The House is a very short walk to anything you'll need to make your stay perfect. Rates are unbeatable and the location made it perfect to travel in any direction!

Room Tip: Rooms 7 & 8 have private entrances.

I have been traveling to Cape Cod since I was a child, over 50yrs and we were so pleased to discover the Clapp family, especially Nancy, and this quintessential Cape Cod home since our regular place had been sold and redone and the prices more than doubled. The place is cute and homey....some of the furnishings are older, as would be expected in a place that has been run by the same family for a long time, but clean and in good shape and we had a very comfortable bed in Room 7... it felt like staying with cherished family friends.. We had a very large room with a king bed, a kitchenette with microwave, coffeemaker and small fridge and a sofa, coffeetable and tv...we really had room to spread out. You are one block from town and then one long block further to the beach. You cut through the back of the property for a shortcut to town so it is very close. We ride bikes, which they let us keep in the garage and there were great places to bike. There is a lovely yard to relax in with chaises and hammocks. Coffee was ready in the main house early but we also had a coffeemaker in our room. What was really nice is that they ask you to be respectful of your noise levels after 10pm and all the guests were very nice when we stayed there....not blasting tv's in the next room or loud music so we slept like logs.

Nancy was very helpful and gave good advice on things to do and her grandson Brian was very helpful as well. A very nice, well brought up young man.

Harwichport has alot of good restaurants and is a town right on the water so it is lovely. It is very busy in the summer, as all of Cape Cod is....we often travel in late Sept, which is perfect.

P.S.
I have to say I was stunned to see any negative reviews for this lovely guest house. Do these people realize what a value they are getting, not to mention very attentive and kind owners?....apparently not. Luckily we have learned that on tripadvisor when most of the reviews are good, you just ignore the few negative ones because there are some folks you can't please no matter what you do, like the jerk who complained of sand in the bed but neglected to say he arrived WAY before check in time and they were allowed access to their room BEFORE IT WAS CLEANED which means drop off your bags and maybe use the bathroom but get out because the room is not ready. I travel alot at these places and have seen more idiots arrive at these small run guest houses and B&B's at 8 or 9 am, many hours before check-in time, and expect their room to be ready .As a traveler it is very frustrating because I have heard owners kindly explaining that check-in time is much later in the day because the rooms have to be cleaned, etc and these self-absorbed travelers are just clueless, often pissing off the owners who are most often in the middle of making breakfast for guests or checking out other guests. At one guest house where I stayed at in Martha's vineyard, the guest did not like her mattress and requested a new one?!?!?! Note to fellow travelers staying at guest houses and b and b's....., these places are NOT the Four Seasons...they are small, privately run places, often run with just 1 or 2 people.

Room Tip: We have stayed in room 7 and room 8 which are not in the main house, they are in the back of the pro...

This guest house is a real find. I recently stayed for 2 nights and was very comfortable with room # 1 in the main house - at a very affordable price. The backyard is lovely and the owners very friendly and helpful. The location can't be beat, town and the beaches just a short walk down the street. I highly recommend this guest house for a homey feel and a super value! You won't do better than this for charm, comfort, and affordability in Harwich Port!
