Owner description: Cape Cod's favorite regional theater! Producing everything from new work and classic musicals to outdoor children's shows. Come Find us. Artists who wanted to develop a company dedicated to creativity and professionalism founded Cape Rep Theatre in 1986 and have worked hard to choose plays and musicals that continually challenge the artists who work here. We have two theatres on 7 acres of land in Nickerson State Park in Brewster: a 135-seat Indoor Theater and Cape Cod's only Outdoor Theatre, a 200-seat beauty. We produce a 5-play Indoor Theater season from May through December. During the summer, we use the Outdoor Theater for daytime children's shows and in the evening, we produce more mature fare "under the stars." We make a deliberate choice to bring in artists from outside our community to keep our vision broad, our company connected to the wider world and our productions as professional and creative as possible. We want to work with the best theater we can find. Often our choices are works that may not ordinarily be produced because we try not to let size of cast, degree of difficulty (or relative obscurity!) step in the way of choosing a show. And, most important, we have and will continue to produce new work. To all playwrights out there: we love producing new work!

This is a great little local theater situated in the old Camp Monomoy Dining Hall. You would think it was built for this theater. All the seats are comfortable and very close to the stage so the experience is much more intimate that your large theaters. They generally combine local talent with equity actors and the result is fun. You can loose yourself to the experience and have fun. Early in the year when it is light out, you can enjoy an early walk through the old campsite and visit their outdoor theater. The outdoor theater was originally the Robert J Delahanty Memorial Chapel having been built for the founder of the camps. This is a local theater that is well worth supporting.

Although we were disappointed in the play we saw I would highly recommend this little theater gem. Acting was very good, scenery and acoustics good, and the building itself charming. We happened on "Bye, Bye Mary Rose" a rather amateurish play with no clear direction or theme. I feel sure their other offerings are good judging from the attendance of the locals and the4 caliber of the acting. I would give it a try again.

I have been to many of the shows at Cape Rep. I continue to be impressed with the clever staging and set design, the talent of the cast, and the interesting array of shows that they select for their season.

We went to see a rendition of the story 'Click Clack Moo, Cows that Type' on our recent vacation to Cape Cod. I am so glad we took the time away from the beach to go see this production. The outdoor theatre is accessed by walking along a neat wooded path. The stage was set to look like Farmer Brown's farm. The production was lively and moved along at a pace that kept my four year old interested the whole time. The characters even came out to meet the kids after the show to sign their programs and this was a big hit with the kids including my own.

The only drawback is that the wooden seats are not forgiving, so not sure I could make a 2 hour production there without an intermission. This show ran about 70 minutes, which was fine for sitting there.

Overall, a neat experience not to be missed when in the area.

This is hands down the best theatre on the cape. We are seasonal residents and have gone to every theatre there is available. It doesnt get better than this. The actors, sets, costumes are all broadway quality. Every other theatre is a waste of time. Do yourself a favor and see whatever they are presenting!
