Brewster By The Sea
Ranked #4 of 10 Brewster B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 12 May 2012

We don't live far so probably would not have stayed here but were given a gift certificate by our daughter who loves the place. Knowing Brewster we knew that the location of the B&B on Rte. 6A could not be better. 6A is true "olde Cape Cod" with the antique houses, tiny towns and ocean vistas spread along its scenic stretches. Brewster is little more than half way down the Cape, so it is ideally placed to travel to the end of the cape (P-Town) or cross to Chatham and other special towns. Or you may choose to stay put in Brewster and have all you could want of beaches, swimming, fishing, etc. The B&B is directly across the road from a park with a historic house and windmill (open in the summer). The Cape Cod Natural History Museum and a slew of walking trails are just up the road. A bike trail runs nearby. There was a two day downpour on the May weekday that we visited. We were met by the owner, Bryon who introduced us to the inn and the amenities. He put the tea kettle on so we could return after seeing our room. The hospitality of Bryon and his wife - in fact everyone we met was exemplary. Occupancy was sparse this rainy night so Bryon offered us a choice of two rooms in the carriage house. We chose one on the second floor with views of the Drummer Park and a well stocked bookshelf outside the door. Bryon showed us how to operate the gas fireplace and TV. The jacuzzi tub and sparkling clean bathroom were outfitted with bath salts, lotions, etc. Towels were thick and soft and bath towels for the pool provided. We didn't see the pool, hot tub or much of the grounds because of the rain - but our room was so cozy, we settled in with the fire lit. Later we went to the main house to get tea (although the carriage house has its own set up) and some delicious homemade brownies and ginger cookies. Our four poster bed was even more comfortable because of the special European "featherless" feather bed. We ventured out to view the beach and to get a bite at the Land Ho, a pub we like in Orleans, the next town over. But honestly, we couldn't wait to get "home" to the B&B. It was such a good night's sleep with the rain beating on the windows. That was the only sound - no traffic, no sirens - just peace. The breakfast next a.m. was great, juice, fresh fruits, bacon and french toast or eggs . I was having some dietary issues but Donna was completely helpful and made adjustments to the menu for me. We have stayed in many B&Bs over the years, but Brewster By the Sea really is special. It may be the fact that Byron and Donna are so well suited to their occupation, attentive to their guests and serious about creating a warm and memorable experience. Even though we live a short distance, we will definitely return to stay - as do most of their other guests, I expect.

Room Tip: Their website has great descriptions of the rooms. If you like more privacy, chose the carriage hous...

My husband and I just spent three nights at Brewster By the Sea. We were greeted warmly by Byron, and invited to have homemade cookies and lemonade. We were given a tour and shown the special amenities - coffee, tea, and homemade desserts anytime, and computer access, to name a few.
We were thrilled when we entered our room; although I knew from the pictures that the Bayberry Room would be perfect for us, I was impressed by how comfortable it was, and how clean the bathroom was. (The staff kept the room and bathroom spotless throughput our stay!) We loved having a fireplace for the chilly nights.
Breakfast was delicious. We met Donna the next morning and she was just as friendly as Byron. We had fresh juice and fresh fruit every morning as starters, and then the main course. We were lucky - we got to try homemade blueberry pancakes, omelets with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and mushrooms, and French toast. The apricot scones and fresh raspberry jam were absolutely amazing. I went home with recipes, but I am sure Donna's touch and fresh ingredients can't quite be matched!
Donna and Byron were friendly and warm. They were informative and they had helpful suggestions regarding places to visit on the Cape and restaurants to try. We really enjoyed our conversations with them.
We will be back!!! I'd like to try the spa on our next visit.

Room Tip: The pictures and descriptions on the website match the rooms.

Donna, Byron, and Harrison, of course, made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The inn is absolutely beautiful, with Cape Cop seaside charm, and bright airy, inviting rooms. They are furnished very tastefully, have luxurious linens, and are spotless.
The farm to table breakfast was possibly the best I've ever had. The ingredients were simple, but so fresh you could taste each one, and they did not taste like anything I've ever bought at the market. The apricot scones and homemade raspberry jam were just undescribably out of this world!!! Oh and so were the homemade cookies and lemonade...realize I'm going on, but there's so much to go on about!
Had a couples massage (we were celebrating an anniversary) which was nothing short of fabulous, icing on the cake of our weekend...
All in all, just can't recommend this place enough!!!

It is hard to crash back to real life and be staring at my plain bowl of granola this morning after our three course breakfasts of the freshest fruits, freshly squeezed juice, power coffee and scrumptious fare cooked to taste and delighting the eye. Where is my lavender scented hot towel so graciously extended by Byron. Re-entry is difficult. In our past visits we have stayed in three different rooms here and each was wonderfully comfortable and impeccably clean clean clean. There are no errant hairs to be found...no dusty corners....nothing left untouched to make you go ewww.....only surprises such as the softest sheets, fluffy comforters, thickest towels prepared by the most detail-oriented and gracious innkeepers you could ever meet. We agree with all the positive reviews here. You will not be disappointed at Brewster By the Sea!

Room Tip: We read someone's note about road noise. Almost every B & B is next to the road. We are both...

In an effort to impress my new boyfriend, for his birthday I booked a visit to BBTS. We could not had a more delightful winter break! Byron and Donna are the most perfect innkeepers ever, and over the years we have come to look forward to our time with them as much as we have our stay in their beautiful B & B. Now that we are married, my husband and I still make sure to book the next year's trip on our last morning there! And some day soon we hope to bring family and friends - and perhaps stay at Donna and Byron's fabulous new venture - the Captain Freeman Inn - also in Brewster! Thanks to B & D for wonderful memories!

Room Tip: We love the Refugio Suite!
