Quite simply put, it's the worst place I've ever stayed.

Two different rooms stink of stale cigarettes, thin, worn blankets, lumpy, creaky beds, mold and mildew in the bathroom, tepid water.

Couldn't wait to leave, never to return

Room Tip: look elsewhere

You don't find many places like this anymore. Single room rate is $53 (with tax!), which gets you a spotlessly clean, simple room with a modern TV and wifi. Yes, the windmill outside is broken (I think), and some of the furnishings are worn and the carpet a bit stained, but at this price who's to complain? Even better, on Saturday and Sunday mornings they operate a cafe that serves delicious breakfasts at prices stuck in the 1980's. Only caveats; bed mattresses that are very soft, at least in my room; people with back problems need not apply, and no deadbolts on the doors. You are in a very safe, rural area, but still this is an important feature of a hotel room. The owners live on site and are lovely people. Try this place out before it's too late.

I don't usually write reviews, but I had to this time after seeing the recent review that wrongly states that this hotel is not clean. It is a simple place (after all, it is $50 a night) that may not have some of the added perks of a luxury hotel, but it is very clean, well run, and very homey. I have met the owners, and they take a great deal of pride in both their property and in treating their customers well. I strongly recommend the Windmill as a place where you can get away from things, not break the bank, and be well cared for.

This place is disgusting! The rooms (we had 3 rooms) were dirty and outdated. Hair on the walls in the bathroom, musty smells, broken window (with shards of glass still on the sill), and cobwebs in the shower. One bed had grass in it! Totally unclean. Rundown is one thing, filth is another. Will never go back and never recommend to anyone. We booked on reading reviews. Re-read the reviews and you can 'read into' the comments. I would not even allow my kids to walk around without shoes. It's shameful what we experienced in this place. Could not wait to check out. The $65 nightly fee was astronomical for what we received. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 10 minutes to Greenfield.

Room Tip: If you want clean, go somewhere else.

This is a great place. The owner is the nicest man. This is a overlooked place. The room is CLEAN neat and cozy. I normally stay in greenfield and was pleasantly surprized by the hospitality. The owners take pride in the property. The bathroom is CLEAN,the beds are so comfortable like being home. If you overlook this place for a chain hotel you are making a mistake. This is one of the best places. I would tell anyone from a city or town do not go to chains stay at the windmill. This is cozy, comfy and safe. Again you feel this is your home away from home.

Room Tip: one floor and all the rooms are quiet
