Review of Carmel Cove Inn at Deep Creek Lake

We spent two nights at this wonderful inn. From the moment we arrived our host, Mary, made sure we felt right at home. There were so many "extra touches" that she provided...a well stocked refrigerator with beverages, a pool table for a little bit of friendly competition, a seemingly endless selection of movies - complete with a microwave and popcorn - and a bonfire at night with all the makings for s'mores! Despite the cool and cloudy weather, our stay was full of warmth and comfort. We made the short walk to the lake, wishing only that it was warmer so we could take advantage of the canoe and fishing equipment available to all the guests. Breakfasts were scrumptious and very filling. Crepes one morning and french toast the next...yum! Service was impeccable. Recommendations for activities and restaurants were spot on. We won't hesitate to return to the inn. Mary's love of innkeeping is evident, and this was one of the best stays we have ever had at a B&B. Thank you Mary for making our stay so special.More

quiet and peaceful

Had a great stay here with perfect temperatures in August which made the bonfire and marshmallows all that much better... Breakfast was fantastic and the hostess was very friendly in everyway we could have wanted.. The place was maintained well and shows the care that is sadly missing in some B&Bs. We would certainly re-visit here without a second thought.

Room Tip: all rooms seem to be about equal; but choose one with a rear balcony if possible!

Perfect, peaceful retreat

The wonderful and detailed reviews posted of the Inn are accurate. I have stayed in many B&B's and this did not disappoint. Mary is welcoming and the breakfasts were delicious. The rooms were at full or almost full capacity the weekend we stayed, and it was still quiet and relaxed. We enjoyed our time around the campfire and explored some of the local restaurants. Mary's recommendations were perfect. We rented a pontoon boat for a day at a local marina and had a nice time motoring around the lake.

A Wonderful First Experience!

My husband and I stayed at Carmel Cove Inn for a 3 nights and we absolutely loved it! Our room was very clean and comfortable, we loved the whirlpool tub in our bathroom, and we enjoyed relaxing on our porch/deck. Since we stayed during the week, there was only 1 other couple there at the same time, so it was peaceful and quiet. Mary, the innkeeper was very helpful and welcoming (and a great cook); all our breakfasts were delicious. In addition to the great breakfasts, there were many amenities at the inn which made the price of our stay well worth it! The common room was great for shooting some pool, or sitting and relaxing while listening to music or reading. There was an extensive DVD collection if we wanted to watch a movie in the common room, or in our bedroom. Drinks and snacks were available 24/7 (including beer and wine), as well as a fridge and microwave. We loved being able to take a short walk through the woods to the dock, where we could sit and look out on the cove, or take out the inn's canoe. Our favorite feature of the inn was the nightly camp fire--complete with s'mores! The inn was also a short drive to the state park/beach, and restaurants in Deep Creek. We will definitely return! Staying at Carmel Cove was like having our own lake house for a few days :-)

Relax and refresh

What a lovely inn! Our room (#3) had a private deck; the room was charming and spotless. Owner/innkeeper Mary could not have been nicer or more helpful. We loved the nightly fires in the fire pit, playing pool in the living room and simply relaxing with other guests. Take advantage of using the inn's canoes and inner tubes! The inn is conveniently located to a great local coffee shop, Lakeside Creamery (ice cream), The Firefly Creamery (they do wine/cheese pairings), local parks for hiking and good restaurants. We would definitely like to return. It's a wonderful place for a 3-4 day weekend escape from DC.

Home away from home

We had a wonderful stay at the Carmel Cove Inn this July 4th weekend. The Inn offers hot breakfast (included in the price) every morning, accompanied by fresh juice, fruits and brewed coffee (Maple Syrup was so original and so good!!!). In addition, we had access to water, beer, soda, wine, pop corn, and coffee 24/7, with no additional fees. Every night we enjoyed bonfire at the Inn's backyard. Guests can have some S'mores while enjoying the bonfire.

Carmel Cove Inn = Mary. Upon arrival, Mary gave us a very informative tour of the property. She made sure that the fridges in the Common Room are always stocked with beer, sodas, wine, ice, and water. Since it is our first visit to the Deep Creek Lake area, we got some great suggestions about places-to-visit, activities-to-do and good local eateries from Mary on our arrival at the Inn.

The Common Room is a great place to hang out anytime of the day. Please check out the picture of the Common Room that I have shared with this review. The Common Room also includes indoor games such as pool and chess. We borrowed movies from the Common Room to watch them in our room. The Inn also offers complimentary pop corns. So you can easily enjoy movie with some pop corns every evening after bonfire & S'mores.

Additionally, you do not need to rent a canoe and bikes. You can just borrow them from the Inn.

It is good that the Inn is located away from the noisy part of the Deep Creek Lake (sound of motor boats) but close to very quiet part of the lake. So we were able to enjoy the nature's quietness.

Every day Mary checked on us to know whether we had a good day. Very caring.

With all these, we never felt that we were away from home. So...Thank you, Mary and the Inn staff, for making our stay enjoyable and comfortable!
