The hotel is great. It was clean and quiet at a reasonable price (for DC). They do the cookie thing at night which the kids loved at the end of a sightseeing day. The wifi worked very well. There's a little pool for small kids. Parking was free, and the hotel is easily accessible from I-95.
The location was both great and not-so-great. It's next to a strip mall with Panera, Chick-fil-A, Qdoba, IHOP, and a 7-11. It's nice to walk over to Panera for breakfast in the morning. On the downside, drivers zip in and out of there so be careful when walking around. There's a Target, ShopRite, gas station, and McD a few minutes away. It's close to "downtown" Silver Springs and there are many good eateries in the nearby suburbs. We liked Brookside Gardens, a small nearby park.
The bigger issue is DC traffic. This is the first time I've stayed outside of DC while visiting the area. While it's only 13-14 miles to the Mall area, it is a commute of an hour or more, even when returning around 7-8 pm. I loved visiting the suburbs food scene, but it's the big negative to the hotel.More
