great place for kids and families in a beautiful setting. Kind of like Jamestown, but not as crowded.

“Does'nt pretend to be Colonial Williamsburg, But worth the trip”
Reviewed 8 January 2012

A great informative museum and walking tour of the partially restored colonial capital of Maryland without the high cost or crowds of Colonial Williamsburg. Each time we visit there's something new to see.

“Amazing - America of the 1600s. Well worh the visit.”
Reviewed 16 November 2011

This is a slice of our country that you rarely find...the re-creation of an area that early.
We thoroughly enjoyed it...should have allowed more time. Because it gets dark early after daylight saving time ends.
Everyone was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.. Loved that you could get on the ship the "Dove", small and wonderful. Wonderful views of the Potomac River.
Caution: There is a lot of walking if you want to see everything. You can enjoy the site by driving between the locations - so come anyway - if you can walk even a little. Worth it!

“Great historical site”
Reviewed 10 October 2011

The staff acts out their parts as 16th century residents very well. We especially liked the recreation of the church on the south end. Very eerie thinking about all the burials that were done there and forgotten.

“Beautiful rural city and college”
Reviewed 28 August 2011

This little town is rural and there is not much to do besides visiting historic sites and Pt Lookout. The city itself is a beautiful; however the bridge from Solomon's Island to St Mary's is horrifying! I believe the bridge is called, Thomas Jefferson Bridge. There is a three foot jersey wall keeping you from plunging into the water and the incline is like a roller coaster - single lane on both sides, please do not drink and drive on this bridge!
