We were staying in Naukuchiatal. It's the largest lake in the area. Sattal is smaller and was full of tourists, boating and playing gamea. The area around was also dirty. Best avoided or at least do not visit the boating area. Stay away and enjoy the lake. Maybe staying here would be better as it would be peaceful before and after the tourists.

Sattal is the best lake amongst the Lake tour (Bhimtal, Sattal and Naukuchiatal). Normal lake but has good eateries around it. We took Rajma Chawal, finger chips, and Alu paratha with curd. Food was very fresh. Boating facility is there. But, best is that you can get on a bridge in the mid of the lake to take snaps.

Sattal is an amazing place with less crowd and less commercial activities. This is the place where you want to be if you love nature and love watching birds/hiking, etc. There are many activities at the lake like boating, kayaking, etc. The water is clean.

If you love watching birds or photographing them, there is a studio just 5 min walk from the lake where you can witness many species of Himalayan birds.

If you are in love with nature and love watching birds, this is the place to be.

The fact that it is not as commercial as Bhimtal and Nainital, keeps the natural beauty of this place intact.

There is actually point known as the ‘bird studio’ where you can see more than 50 species of birds come and play around in the water, giving you ample time to satisfy your photographic needs.

best advise would be reach the place early so that you get a good angle to click pictures. carry warm clothes, as it tends to get a bit chilly in the morning and after sunset.
