This place was highly recommended, and it exceeded our expectations. Waking up to the chirping birds, witnessing the rising sun and a spectacular sky - we had all the ingredients for a blissful morning, away from the heat of Delhi, at this place. The sumptuous breakfast along with great conversations with other people staying at the property was what makes for a perfect holiday! You can go on nature walks, and if you don't mind the long treks, walk upto the Sattal lake (it is quite a distance!). You can also plan day trips to Nainital, Mukteshwar, Bhimtal etc. Great place for children to run around, lay in the grass and watch the most spectacular birds that visit the property. We would certainly visit again!
First of all, this is not one of your run-of-the-mill places for stay. It was a refreshing change to see someone running this out of sheer passion. We had ridiculous dietary requirements, but for the culinary ace in Jaws it was just another opportunity to display his wizardry. My children would surely have missed enjoying the magnificent views and surroundings had there been a TV in the room. Besides, every single day, we woke up to the glorious view of the customary twilight just before the sun rise. The warmth, personal touch and care that each one of us received was unparalleled. May God bless everybody involved at JawsAtSattal.
Got taken here by trusted friends and greatly enjoyed our stay. Met two young families there, one small kid each, very well-behaved. Everyone had come through personal recos. Can do nice day trips around to Bhimtal, Nainital, Mukteshwar etc, local cab easily arranged if no car. Thank God, no TV there and no noise. Seemed like a real refuge for mannerly, considerate people looking for a quiet, well-behaved sort of place where you can read, laze, sleep and wake up to fantastic home-made food, be it Mangalorean, Kashmiri, UP, Punjabi or Western, all magicked up by the host. Breakfast is included and you have to tell in advance if you'd like to have lunch/din as well. A unique feature is that they rustle up food 24/7, just like home, if you get up late. BYOB. I'd suggest you bring lots of books, ipad and some indoor board games and un-noisy toys for kiddies because it's a quiet B&B home stay place, not a typical 'hotel'. The rooms outside the main house have a fridge, micro and electric kettle for chai/coffee, fixings provided. Nice little lawns between the vine-wreathed, flower-edged cottages for evening gatherings, with a view of the hills and the stars. Totally clean linen and loos. Like to go again, that high quality of fresh home-made food and general cosiness+personal space was most unusual in my experience, the closest to 'a home of one's own' in the hills :)
Simply an amazing home stay, which offers much better facilities than many hotels.
The place - The location of this place is in a gated community towards the Saatal road. The rooms are very well decorated and clean. It offers a small kitchen, micro, where you can heat the food. The place itself is walking distance 3 kms (for the trail) and 5 kms if you choose to drive from Saatal. There you can choose to do multiple activities. Very serene and beautifully kept it offers an excellent view of the Bhimtal town below. We have been around Nanital multiple times, but this place offers more than many hotels would do. If you are looking for a calm and quiet stay, this is the destination.
The host - JAWS is a perfect host, eager to meet his guests and interact with them. He is an incredible cook/ Every night he himself cooks some amazing dishes. His passion for cooking is evident in the effort he puts and the enthusiasm to know what his guests prefer to eat.
For a weekend break, this is an incredible place to be. For us JAWS is the place to be whenever in Bhimtal/Saatal...
let me be elaborate on the review because its worth:
I booked the home stay based on reviews on trip advisor and for the rare occasions, i found reviews being correct and realistic. I stayed there fore 2 days along with my parents who were used to of Hotels only and were skeptical of staying at a home stay accommodation. When we reached there we were warmly greeted by Mr Jaws Kamath and we indulged in talk even before keeping luggage in room as if we knew each other for long.
The property is in a quiet, serene and secure location between Bheemtal and Nainital. The rooms were at par with any 5 star rooms with absolute cleanliness. Both room have a clear view of hills in front and cosy furniture to sit and indulge in the beauty of nature. There is a lawn full of grass and flowers where we can enjoy tea.
And then comes the "bestest" part: the food prepared by mr Jaws.
He has a magic hand which makes a food taste like yipeee....i am not getting word to describe the taste....We had best of food we have ever eaten....Mr Jaws personally indulges in preparation of the breakfast / dinner and does a lot of experiments with his preparation....which gives them a special feel....we will not forget fried ice cream we had....
My 6yr old daughter continued to compare our hotel in ranikhet after our stay at this property and she wanted to go back and stay once again...
i can keep writing but will not end.
So i can only conclude the property is slightly away from hustles of nainital, so just go there, stay and enjoy silence and cool climate. I recommend all readers to choose this and cherish forever.
