This was our first trip to Wells, ME. We stayed in one of the cottages (#302), which is independently owned and needs updating/remodeling. Beds were uncomfortable and the bathroom was the smallest I had ever seen! However, it was neat as a pin when we checked in and housekeeping kept it that way all week. Walking to the beach was the best feature, kids loved the indoor pool and the hotel staff were friendly and accomodating. If we were to vacation in Wells next year, I would stay here again..but maybe in a less expensive room in the main hotel.

Like other reviews state, each room is independently owned so amenities and the room quality vary by room. We stayed in 126 which is a basic motel room with a refrigerator and microwave. The room was clean and comfortable but is outdated and could use some remodeling. Overall you cannot beat the location, well within walking distance to Wells Beach so you don't have to worry about parking. The large in door pool was a definite plus especially for rainy days. The staff was probably the friendliest staff I have ever dealt with. The woman at the front desk (forgot her name) knew everyone's name by the first day and was very helpful. The housekeeping staff were also very friendly and very accommodating and responsive to all or our requests.

We will definitely stay at the Bellevue again but will try another unit on our next stay.

Room Tip: It's tough to judge the rooms by the photos on the web site. Contact the front desk to find the...

The first thing to remember with this place is that the units have different owners so conditions may vary. I was traveling with my boyfriend and a friend of ours. We had a lofted room, #204, which was the perfect amount of space for our little group. Upstairs was a comfy king size bed and downstairs, a standard pull out sofa. The room had a kitchenette which is very convenient. Overall, it was a good stay, but there were a few things that kept it from being great.

-All over the website, it mentions that the rooms have vcrs, so we searched my boyfriends old vhs collection for some classics. We got there and no vcr, but 2 dvd players.
-The bathroom could use a renovation. Older fixtures, very basic shower head, the kind of mold/mildew around the edges that only a thorough cleaning with bleach will take care of.
-The tap water was heavily chlorinated, maybe not the hotel's fault, but kind of unpleasant.
-We were in the same building as the pool and the hallway smelled overwhelmingly of chlorine.
-No recycling.

The staff was nice. There was a second tv and dvd player in the lofted bedroom as well as a much appreciated fan. The parking was convenient. It's a quick walk to the beach. Price was reasonable. I would go back when I visit Wells again.

As others have mentioned, these units are individually owned, so use caution when booking. Ask for a recently renovated unit, and you will be happy. Our unit (127) was basically a motel room, but it had been newly renovated, had a queen and full bed and a kitchen efficiency--good size fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker but no stove. We were very happy with it, and would stay here again. You cannot beat the price for being this close to the beach. We have vacationed in Wells for years, and spent far more money for fewer amenities.

The indoor pool/hot tub are a great plus for unpredictable Maine weather, and free wireless and coffee were also appreciated. Our unit was not near the main road, which I expect gets very busy during high season. Parking is in front of some units; we could hear car doors open and shut, so that's something to keep in mind if you are a light sleeper. Also, there was no outlet in the bathroom. Other than those issues, we loved our stay here, and hope to come up for a week this summer!

We arrived on Friday and the staff was very friendly and we checked right in. Our first room was very small, a Queen Bed and a Pull Out Sofa. It was the only room we could get on such short notice. There were 4 adults so it was a little crammed, but Saturday we were checking into their 4 Bedroom Condo. It was the Taj Mahal compared to the one room on Friday night. This hotel needs a little refreshing. Carpets were a little outdated and could use a shampoo. (left my feet black from walking around) The 4 Bedrooms were down stairs from the first floor (very strange layout) but we dealt with it. Overall, it was a nice place in a great location...only 1/2 block away from the beach!
