The main theme of the museumis light house lights. All shapes, sizes, small to large, and colors, arranged singly, on tables and on the floor.
Also are service bells, a lifeboat, fog horns, a sailing ship/boat's steering wheel. A replica of the inside of a light house and a fog bell striking machine.
You will find cabinets for the U.S. Coast Guard memorabilia, brass light house items and china. The museum has three models of light houses from the 1850s up to the late 1890s.
A gift shop has any thing that relates to a light house.
Admission is $5.00 adilts. $4.00 seniors. Childred under 12 free.
In season hours are May 31 to November 1,2011. Winter hours are November 7, 20011 to June 1, 2012. Thursday & Friday, 9:00-5:00 PM. Saturday 10:00-4:00 PM.
Parking is permitted across the street in the Trade Winds Motel. Also in the Public Parking Lot at the Harbor Park.
A visit was not on my schedule. When a boat cruise into Rockland Bay was canceled, the museum was just a few steps way.
A visit is worth the time.
