We stayed at the Country Club Inn Columbus weekend for one night while out riding on our motorcycle. The owners of the inn could not have been nicer and we very much enjoyed talking with them. The setting is on a hill next to the golf course. Gorgeous view of the lake and surrounding mountains. Deer are sighted nightly on the lawn in front of the inn. There is a pool but we did not use it. The living room area with fireplaces was decorated in a lodge style and was a nice place to sit and meet other guests. Rooms are motel style and could use a bit of updating. Our bathroom was a bit on the small side and needed a paint job. The mattress was a bit hard and really should be replaced with something softer but all in all the room was comfortable and clean. No closet in our room.

Hubby was a bit tired after riding all day so we had cocktails on the deck overlooking the lake and enjoyed winding down from a long day of traveling. Good martini and gin & tonic. We also ate dinner in the inn's dining room which was good but could have been better. We thought the prices a bit high but it was an adequate meal. There are better places to eat in town but it's also nice to not have to budge once you arrive and check in. Breakfast was included in the rate and it was very, very good with several choices to choose from.

After staying in several lodging establishments over the years, we have yet to find a really exceptional place to stay in Rangeley so this inn was perfectly fine for our visit and one we would probably go back to someday. The Rangeley area is beautiful and well worth a visit. Great motorcycle roads to choose from in the area, plenty of places to hike, boat and swim, beautiful waterfalls and gorges, great snowmobiling and skiing in the winter.

Owners Margie and Steve have got it all down at this wonderful, laid back 19 room hotel that looks like something out of the 1950's. The first thing you see when you enter is the great room, with 20 foot ceilings and TWO fireplaces, one at each end. Margie seems to materialize whenever you have a question and her husband is very good in the kitchen. His large breakfast comes with the room and you don't want to miss it! Extremely beautiful setting, with an excellent golf course on one side (we watched two well fed deer walk across the course the morning we left) and a huge field bordering Rangeley Lake on the other, every room has a view of the mountain-ringed lake. The rooms are dated, but clean and filled with light. Everything worked and was comfortable. Our friends' wedding was run like clockwork, with the service outside in the field and dinner in the dining room, then a band and dancing in the great room. A pleasant weekend was had by all. We are so glad to have met and spent some time with these friendly hoteliers and look forward to going back.

Room Tip: Our room was fine, but I noticed the room on the corner had two walls of windows, and looked a bit more spacious.

We made a reservation for a room that was wheelchair accessible. When we arrived we discovered that the person who took our reservation was not familiar with the limits of the rooms and although we could get into the inn (moveable ramp) and the bedroom, we could not get into the bathroom. The inn owner realized the error before we arrived and had already sought out other options for us in town. She was gracious (and embarrassed). My husband said the dining room was lovely with a gorgeous view of the lake. Sorry we couldn't stay and hope this inn and others become more accessible, but for those who can stay the innkeepers are clearly committed to their guests.

I have been going to the Country Club Inn since I was a toddler. My family used it as a meeting place for a family reunions over the new years holiday for many years in a row. We would rent out all the rooms in the inn and stay for just under a week. Owners Marge and Steve leave nothing to be desired on the service front, and the rooms are clean, quaint, and comfortable. There's a great little bar area, pool table, high celing living room with a huge fireplace. The dining room serves great food (my favorite is the breakfast) and looks out onto the lake. The location is great for activities (though I have only been there in winter) there is a great hill right outside the Inn for sleding, Saddleback mountain is just a quick drive away, and there are plenty of places to snowmobile. I would recomend the Country Club Inn to anyone looking for a great place to stay and feel at home.

This comfortable inn in the beautiful Rangeley area is just that - comfortable! The hosts (Margie & Steve) are warm and welcoming and know the area very well. The rooms are fairly basic and the meals are marvelous! Go! Stay! Eat! Enjoy!
