You can sit in the living room, look out on a timeless view of water, rocks and the endless points of spruce and fir along the shoreline. It is a comfortable cottage, good kitchen and comfortable bed. The two twin beds upstairs are in a loft at the peak of the roof and said room is about 3 feet high and accessed by a built in ladder. Execllent place for children...except for the ladder. We didn't check the sofas for roll out beds but I would say it sleeps 4, not 6.
The cottage's proimity to Schootic is a gift. We went out to watch the sun set from Schootic Point then drove a bit further to the Blueberry Hill overlook (still on Schootic but east facing) and watched the full moon rise.

It was our second time staying at Brookhouse. The view can't be beat and the location is ideal for beautiful Schoodic hiking and nature trails. Its also and an easy drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. I look forward to a third visit.
Prospect Harbor, a sleepy Maine fishing village, has just enough to do, buy, and see to make it interesting, but not enough to break the peaceful trance it puts you in. Brookhouse is a cozy, charmingly decorated house on the water with a million dollar view. You could sit in the living room, even rock in a rocking chair, and watch the tide come in or out all day. Or sit around the fire pit outside at night and watch the stars. It's a place to come back to nature and your own natural rhythms. New kitchen, big bathroom, even a washer and dryer. Paintings of seascapes. Brookhouse is a great place to land when not exploring the beautiful Schoodic Peninsula.
