“Great Location, New Rooms”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2011

This place is directly on the beach. The room we stayed in (110) was beachfront. Literally three steps to the beach. Also walking distance to everything in Old Orchard Beach. Free Parking. The rooms have all been recently remodeled with flat screen televisions, Fridge with actual freezer, small 4 burner stove with oven, microwave, toaster and a couple of basic pans. No coffee pot, but there is free coffee in the lobby. No iron in the room but they will give you one at the desk if you ask. Clean and great. Very nice. table and chairs right outside your room to sit and have coffee and watch the ocean. Pool was heated and warm. Jacuzzi was nice and clean. The family that runs this place is very nice.

Room Tip: Rooms 109, 110 & 120 are great oceanfront rooms

I was very pleased with this motel. We stayed here for 1 night with another couple, as my husband was running the Maine marathon in Portland. The room was very clean and bright & the staff member was very nice at check in. I love how it is right on the beach. Too bad the weather didn't cooperate.

First, the location - it is right on the beach, I had never been at a hotel that was that close to the beach, it was great. Also great was that it was very close to the pier, and on the side where they have the fireworks every Thursday night, so we were treated to a great firework show from right outside our motel door, or could walk 100 ft and be right beside it. The motel is also right beside the Playland Palace, we took an all day bracelet one day and my kids were able to go 3 times since it was so close to our motel, I stayed on the beach or in the room. We saw the moon rise over the ocean, it was beautiful.

Our room was small, but boy did they make the best use of all the available space! There were drawers beneath the two beds so plenty of room to put our clothes and things, I kept the suitcases in the car. Also nice little kitchen with stove and fridge - no counter space, but I managed by putting the cutting board over the sink. But you don't make a 4 course meal in that kitchen... The bathroom was clean and also very compact yet comfortable.

The owners are very friendly and nice, go out of their way to make sure their guests are happy with their stay.

Coffee is only available at 7:30 am, but there is a Duncan Donut 5 min walk away that opens at 5:00 am so those of us who get up early could still get our coffee - there is no coffee maker in the rooms.

The motel provides beach chairs and umbrellas which was a pleasant surprise. The pool was also very nice and clean. The place was quiet during the night.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side i.e. away from the amusement park are probably quieter - ours was!

We stayed there labor day weekend. Perfect location right on the beach. Close to everything. Clean and comfortable rooms and great family owners who are very helpful and accomodating. This was our first time staying there and won't be our last! Thank you Beachwood!

I grew up vacationing in OOB every year with my family. Now with a family of my own, this was the first time staying at the Beachwood and going forward, this will be the ONLY place we stay on OOB. It's literally like being at home. Staff is super friendly, rooms and property are very clean and modern, and excellent location. The pool is very clean and actually heated, about 85 degrees!!! You can walk right in. They even provide you with beach umbrellas and chairs. Who does that? No one! The Beachwood is listed #2 on TripAdvisor, with the Echo Motel listed as #1. That's a joke! Walked by the Echo and it looks like a place I wouldn't step foot into, old and outdated. Don't waste your time calling around to other establishments on OOB. If you can get into the Beachwood, DO IT! You won't regret it. Can't wait to go back next year.
