“Life is Sweet at the Candy Cottage”

We recently had the pleasure of staying four nights at this cozy cottage. It is rustic by far but that's what makes it so down home. You are instantly swept away as you enter, as it takes you back on a trip, to simpler times. What could be better...with all the stress of this crazy world we live in? "THIS IS MY NEW HAPPY PLACE."

We were greeted by a view that you are NOT too soon, to forget. We could even see Cadillac Mountain because it's only 6 miles as the crow flies. Here are a few photos that best capture our amazing experience as I could go on and on.

Thanks Tom for everything, God Bless you and your family.

“Great Getaway Place”

When I decided to rent Cottage Candy, I didn't know anything about Lamoine. Tom was very accommodating when I had many questions throughout the time I scheduled the rental and the rental period. This helped make the experience a wonderful one. Cottage Candy is a perfect place for a couple who wants to be near enough to Bar Harbor, but also a quiet distance away. It only took us 30 minutes to get to Bar Harbor! If I come back to Bar Harbor, I would definitely try to rent Cottage Candy again!

the beach was never crowded and you could hear the water splashing on the shore. The cabin was just right for the three of us. Tom was great when we had problems with the TV. He took time out of his vacation and walked us through setting it up not once but twice. all this over the phone and miles apart. We love our view of the water and the quietness of the whole area. Far enough away from the business of the world and yet close enough to join the world. I absolutely loved the area as did my brother and sister-in-law. We are renting the cottage for 2 weeks next year.

We were impressed with the cleanliness of the accomadations the moment we walked in. The owners have done an excellent job of furnishing and decorating the cottage. We did not find anything lacking. The cottage makes you feel at home.

The Candy Cottage is a delightful, rustic place that reminded both of us of family cottages where we'd vacationed as children in the 1950s and early 60s. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, and the view of Mt. Desert Island from the large picture window was spectacular. We watched that rather than the big-screen TV, which we're sure would be a selling point for some visitors, but which we never turned on. We put our kayaks into Raccoon Cove at a small beach just down the road, and were soon cavorting with harbor seals out towards Frenchman Bay. The location, near Ellsworth, is about half an hour from Bar Harbor and the Acadia Visitor Center. The kitchen has enough basic dinnerware and utensils to get by, but if you plan to stay longer than a few days and want to cook real meals, you might want to bring a few things of your own, like a non-stick pan or two and some large mixing spoons. A very easy to use gas fireplace took the chill off nicely on our first morning. We can recommend this highly to a couple or a small young family who like to keep things simple yet comfortable.

Thank you so much for your review & insight on what the kitchen needs. We always strive to improve our guests' experience(s) and will have additional non-stick pans and large mixing spoons in the kitchen by 8/16/14. If you can think of anything else we should add, please let us know.

We hope you will visit again.
