To celebrate my wife's birthday, the entire family headed over to Cousins Island in early-August catch the short ferry ride over to Great Chebeague Island on a spectacular early evening and after landing and making the climb up to the Cheabeague Island Inn we were soon relaxing on the Adirondack chairs looking back over to the mainland and a soon-to-be setting sun. Played a little "corn hole" while we waited for our reservation time for dinner. While not inexpensive, dinner was wonderful and enjoyed by all eight of us. Given our view and the exemplary service, in addition to the beautifully prepared meal, we could not have been happier. Everything about the Inn, from the view back across the golf course as the sun set, to the various porches, the lobby and sitting rooms, to the dinner has us all anxiously awaiting a return visit next Summer. Plus you get to take a 15 minute ferry ride over and back to punctuate a special evening.

Time can certainly improve food and service, as evidenced by the restaurant at the Chebeague Island Inn. Several years ago, I wrote "Turn Your Boat Around" and now I find myself eating my words, along with their delicious food! My wife and I took four of her college friends out on Casco Bay and we ended up for a late lunch at the Chebeague Inn. Right from the start, the service was great. The staff ran around and set a up table for us down on the lawn, overlooking the Bay. It was spectacular. Most of our party had the CII Lobster Rolls, which were great: not too much mayo or other additives and finished with an interesting aoli. Others had the fish and chips (perfectly batter fried) and the watermelon salad. The portions are not too big for lunch so if your'e hungry, grab an appetizer. However, the real star of the show were the house made biscuits! There is a charge for six of them (at lunch), but it's worth every penny (and calorie). These rolls come out warm and melt in your mouth. Overall, the service was excellent and the chef came out at the end of lunch and chatted for 15 minutes, which was very thoughtful. This meal ended up being a real highlight of our friends' trip to Maine and I would highly recommend this stop for both locals and "people from away". You definitely won't be disappointed.

The lunch I had was delish!!!!! I had the Garden Salad with Salmon, and it was so darn good. My stepmother had the mussels which apparently the way to go, because she would have eaten the bowl if it weren't glass. Then everyone on the island who knew we went would say, "Did you get the mussels?"

We also had my sister's wedding rehearsal dinner at the inn, and that was OUTSTANDING!!! The staff was so attentive and the food was out of this world. We had folks in from all over the country and everyone was very happy with their meals.

The view from the inn over the water is so beautiful, really the setting can't be any better!

My daughter and I took the ferry to Chebeague for an evening: cocktails on the lawn, dinner on the outside screened portion of the restaurant. Although the price was high the quality of the service, the food and the atmosphere was perfect for a celebration.
