Started our New England tour here at the Captain Swift Inn, which left a hard act for others to follow. Delicious, generous breakfasts were a work of art. Room small but all we needed. Linda's home-made treats and drinks always available. Hosts friendly without being intrusive. Situated within walking distance of town, for those who don't mind the gentle hill on return.
Only possible downside were steep narrow stairs to our rooms, but Norm quick to take up our luggage, and not all rooms affected (remember like many other B&Bs this was an historic house, very much part of its charm).

We were spending a couple of days in the Camden area and decided to stay at Captain Swift. What a great choice. The room was delightful, cozy and nicely decorated with a spacious bathroom like you do not always see in a B & B. The owners have put a lot of effort into making this a first class place to stay. And, best of all it was a great value. When you consider the delicious breakfast that is included, it cost no more than a night in a motel. The location is excellent and only a very short walk to the most beautiful harbor in Maine.

From the moment we stepped into the B&B the place smelled like cookies. And, of course, there were fresh cookies on the counter. We were welcomed by the owner wearing an apron and a friendly smile. After a less than welcoming owner up in Bar Harbor, the owners at Captain Swift were so helpful and willing to offer up any and every suggestion for activities, places to eat, etc. They recommended a sunset sail on the Surprise which was lovely. Also, their door was always open, so you never felt like you were intruding if you wanted to ask them a question.

We stayed in the Green room which was super comfortable (though i would recommend some new pillows if I'm going to be nit-picky!) with a nice size bathroom. It was on the dark side of the house, so there was not as much natural light as the blue room next to it, but that worked out fine for my boyfriend and I who liked to sleep till breakfast.

The breakfasts were delicious and very filling. We never left wanting more because we were completely stuffed! The only thing I would caution would be if you're on the second floor of the main building, the steps are short but a bit steep. My boyfriend carried my suitcase up for me (which he should!) but if you're elderly or with someone older, you may want to call ahead and ask about the stair situation. They were no problem for us at all.

Overall a super comfortable and friendly stay. Walk to the main part of town. Would stay here again! Thank you!

we stayed only one night and wished we had stayed more. the room "coastal hideaway suite" is perfect for a family; our three children slept upstairs in the mezzanine, and we enjoyed a very comfortable king size bed downstairs. the room and bathroom were spotless. the breakfast is amazing (even too much !), delicious, freshly baked. it is a five mn walk to the center of town. i highly recommend this inn.

Room Tip: coastal hideway is perfect for a family of up to 5 people
