Description: Food & Wine Magazine came up with the idea of “Collaboration Nation” to describe chefs working with customers, vendors and each other to bring the best flavors and experiences to those who love food. The principles of Chefs Stiles and Weinerth are sourcing, preperation, and enhancement. Here at Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay Harbor, Chefs Stiles and Weinerth have operated on these principles from the beginning, sourcing the locally fished, farmed and harvested ingredients from the best seasonal farms and producers in Maine. They then prepare the menu with cooking techniques that preserve the foods integrity and nutrition. The final product is enhanced by optimizing nutritional value via product combination and menu diversity.Midcoast Maine is the beneficiary of a cornucopia of retired/relocated professionals who have left banking or IT to go back to the land and Chef Stiles – who grew up on a farm in local Lincolnville, just up the road -- has built relationships with local farms and other food purveyors, sourcing ingredients like the fresh Aroostook beets and lavender-honey chevre from Tourmaline Hill Farm, greens from the hothouse built by a drummer from the band Phish and cheese from the State of Maine Cheese Company, a business created by a Manhattan banker in Rockland. It's an exciting time to be in the restaurant business and especially exciting to be part of what’s happening here, says Chef Stiles.

If you have the opportunity to stay at or visit the Spruce Point Inn, their inside and lunch outside dining options are a very good option if you don't want to go to town or outside area. Menu has a varied number of options and service was terrific. In nice weather, lunch on the terrace with a water view was particularly nice and relaxing

We did a short get away to Boothbay and chose Spruce Point Inn for a two night excursion. We stayed in Evergreen with a nice view of the property and ocean. There is lots to do (2 pools, games, library, on-site restaurants, kayak, paddle board, biking, hiking etc) and we didn't have time to do them all. Very family friendly (and dog friendly too) everyone was cheery and nice. Staff was very attentive. There is a bit of noise that can be heard upstairs from our room (small children running around) but did not detract much from our stay. Evening smores by the fireplace capped off a great meal at the on-site restaurant. This is higher end lodging so you will pay more, but the onsite amenities certainly make it worth a special couple days away.

Some people have complained in other reviews about the dress code for one of the two on-site restaurants, but the policy is spelled out clearly on the website, in the room and front desk. Just review before you arrive to make sure you have packed the right clothing - the restaurant is worth it!

Tried to eat here last night for our two year anniversary, was turned away due to lack of collar on my husbands shirt. Even though it says resort attire and it is the same Polo shirt he's worn several times to the Samoset Resort, we where asked to leave. Its July and not everyone is comfortable in such clothing in this heat. Very disappointed. Will not return.

Our family of 6 stayed here in the Osprey Cottage. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full big kitchen decorated with retro style appliances, a big living room with windows that look out at the ocean and the waterfront saltwater pool. There is a big front lawn area where you can sit in Adirondack chairs and breath in the ocean air. There are flowers and trees everywhere making this a unique ocean experience. I can't stress enough how relaxing and rejuvenating this setting is. There are two pools, one of which is heated. They have a big outdoor chess/checkers set, corn hole set ups, horseshoe set up, volleyball net, shuffle board and a building with arcade games, air hockey, a piano and more. And a fire pit where they set up S'Mores on the weekends. My grandson enjoyed this very much! This location is down a quiet road but leads into the town of Boothbay Harbor less than 10 minutes away. This town is filled with quaint stores and seafood restaurants galore. You can get on tour boats very easily. Fresh locally made ice cream can be had at Finn McCools. We loved this so much we went there three times. The Blueberry is outstanding! Breakfast is good at Bogies on property and in town at Blue Moon Cafe. They have Pecan crusted french toast that is to die for! This property is very kid friendly and dog friendly. They even have a boat shuttle if you want to reserve a complimentary ride into town on it. We felt as though we had stepped back in time to a well preserved part of history. This is the setting you want if you want the true flavor of Maine. We highly recommend it and will put it on our repeat list which is very selective.
