My wife and I had one of the best Italian dinners we've ever had last night at Ports of Italy. I had the Caprese salad to start and then the frutti di mare. My wife had fresh amberjack cooked piccata style. Amazing meal. Cannot fault a thing. Great, friendly service as well. Do yourself a huge favor and eat at this restaurant. You'll be glad you did.

Without a doubt the worst part of our 5 day vacation. Ranked very highly so we made 7 pm. reservation before we even left our home. Informed the owner on the phone that it was a dual birthday celebration and one person was celebrating his 80th. Owner promised a nice table. Arrived and was shown a table in a dark corner in the back. Refused it and then waited almost an hour for a patio table. Owner never visited. Waited was cool and detached. Eggplant collation was $13 for 3 pieces each the size of a small egg, osso buck was pork, not heal. Waiter said, cost of veal was high. At $25 it was no bargain and was overcooked. Portion was very small. Rice was tasty. For a place allegedly the best in the harbor it was a huge disappointment. It is obvious they are making money and just do not care. Next day drove to Angelina's in Ogunquit on the way home, now, finally a top quality Italian restaurant. Ports of Italy needs to care more about their diners until then.. Prepare to pay a lot for very little.

Since the lobster lovers in our party were missing, and we had some vegans among us, we decided to try Ports of Italy, although we were hesitant to go Italian in Boothbay! We were thrilled by the choice. The service was very professional (thank you Josh) informative and accommodating. The foccacia, bread, olive oil and bruschetta served while we waited were delicious. The mussels with fennel & Aurora sauce were amazing; the lobster ravioli were perfectly al dente with a very subtle tomato sauce. After having had slow service in a several restaurants in the Boothbay area, we were delighted to be served so quickly. Will definitely go back next year. Grazie!

After many days of seafood dinners, we were able to get a reservation at Ports of Italy (later seatings easier than earlier). And pleased to have Josh (of TripAdvisor fame) as our server who made recommendations and split our shared plate appetizer. Originally thought I would order their homemade pasta but couldn't resist the veal piccata -- which was pounded thin, lightly floured, and had just the right amount of lemon flavor. [Only note of disappointment ... the decaf cappuccino was very weak, in terms of flavor.]

I have not been to Italy, but I have been to the North End of Boston many times. What Sante and his staff have created here is truly special and should be a must dine for anyone that can walk, crawl or be carried up those short flight of stairs. Online reservations are pretty straight forward through their website and Sante will be there to greet you before quickly directing you to your table. Service is spectacular and Tony directs the team beautifully. Wine list is extensive and my wife loves the selections as well as the cocktail list. We started off with two appetizer specials of marinated seafood salad and the burrata salad. Both were over the top. For the mains the Mrs. had the halibut special, which was absolutely stunning and perfectly done! I had the pork ossobuco with mushroom risotto and julienned vegetables. Again a perfect plate and the risotto was over the top. Desserts were the tiramisu and the limoncello cake. Again wow!! Bravo to the whole staff here!
